Keyless Entry Key Fob Poor Range Fix - Do It Yourself!

A little something to help increase your range if you’ve been experiencing poor range issues like I have.

Mr Kendor, great video ! Had a problem with a fob that was extremely slow. I tried a new battery and no improvement . Since the key fob was 16 years old, and all I've ever done was change the battery, I washed the NON- electrical components with Ivory dish soap and water, lightly using a tooth brush. Used the pencil eraser as shown to clean contacts. Dried washed parts with a hair dryer on low, away from a drain etc. in case parts blew away. Reassembled and it now works great. Thanks !

Thank you! That worked great. I had two fobs, both only worked standing next to the car. Replacing the batteries didn't help at all. I cleaned all the contacts and batteries like you showed. Now they work like new again.

Haha!! So true. My passat is schizophrenic. Some times I can be 50+ feet away, other times I have to so close I can just reach the lock with my key.

Seriously lmao. I can be standing next to my jeep and it won’t work. Brand new battery. Also sometimes I could be on Easter island and it’ll work lmao

Omg it worked your awesome. My 2016 Chrysler had poor range at 70 ft and now it works better after the cleaning I am getting 300 ft on open lot

Great tip and video. Butter knife and pencil...thanks for sharing! Btw holding to the chin worked on my Ford Edge but not on the truck. Will try the one foot off the ground. Loved the humour.

Sooo, learning I need to do this weekly? I go through the whole process and as soon as the next week get another "fob has left the vehicle" message. I am thinking the problem is in the receiver or antenna - if I could only locate it. I suspect I'll find a mouse nest, some mud dauber remnants or some other obstruction as any action is hit or miss.
