Nikole-Hannah Jones and Dr. Stacey Patton deliver the 2021 DLF Forum keynote conversation, "1619 to 2021: A Black Journalist Turns the Light of Truth on the History of American Race."
Last year’s DLF keynote speaker Dr. Stacey Patton asked if Black lives matter in the GLAMS. This year she returns to host a conversation with Pulitzer-prize winning New York Times journalist and MacArthur Fellow Nikole Hannah-Jones. They will expand the conversation on inclusivity by exploring what it means to be Black women journalists doing the archival work of reclaiming artifacts and stories on American race relations. They will also center the importance of self-care and sustaining community amid controversy and crisis.
Speakers: Dr. Nikole Hannah-Jones and Dr. Stacey Patton

Thank you so much for making this available to the public! I have so much admiration by both scholars' innovation, fortitude, and success in the face of white supremacist backlash. I'm white and learning history again through the lenses of slavery and Black Americans' contributions and experiences has provided me with stories of faith, courage, resilience, resistance, and ingenuity I will never forget.

You are ridiculous. There are numerous holes in the 1619 Project argument that can easily be debunked. To call someone a "white supremacist" because they disagrees shows that you have no real argument.

@@geekmeee We all remember Miss Cleo from the ’90s. Her commercials to give everyone a “free tarot reading” were played nonstop. Eventually, reports began to surface that the psychic was a fraud and that she wasn’t even Jamaican. The hotline Cleo (real name: Youree Dell Harris) worked with, Psychic Readers Network, was accused of taking $1 billion from customers. Calls to the network could last up to an hour which would result in $300 bills for customers.
