First time responder. My dad had Duplitron contractual disease way back when I was a kid. In both hands. Much worse than yours looks. One of his hands was basically a claw. He couldn't open it all the way up, even if he pounded it, palm down, on a table. They did the surgery, he did the physical therapy rehab. Fixed both of his hands (one at a time) right up, and that was the 80s. I'm SURE that what they do now is much more sophisticated. I know you are worried, and I probably would be too. But they've been fixing this for years, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Dad was. Like I said, I have never commented here until now, but I wanted to share that with you, maybe reassure you a little. You're coming at it from the angle of musicianship and technique without preconceptions, helping your listeners gain a greater appreciation for the tracks... And at the same time, your listeners can come back at you with more information about their favourite bands, helping to increase your knowledge and appreciation. It's a wonderful thing. The internet (and KZbin especially) can sometimes be so full of bitterness and hatred and contention. Seeing people come together in a free-flow exchange of ideas that's a pure expression of about love (whether it's the love of music or the love of your favourite band) makes this a genuine oasis on the net. That's a special thing.

One day, the station's music director pulled me into the staff room, and said, "Listen to this." He put on Primus' "Suck on This" on vinyl, just up from L.A. My face just split into a huge grin and, like the sturgeon Claypool loved angling for in the rivers nearby, I was hooked. My head goes so many different ways when listening to Primus which is why I absolutely love them

Don't know if someone else said this, but here we go. Les plays the bass slap, two fingers, claw hammer (style of banjo playing), and anything else he likes the sound of.

YES! Jerry! This is the song that I first heard from Primus that got me out there finding more of their stuff. Thank you Tony Hawk! As a complete aside, and apologies if you covered this song before, but how about having a listen to Happy Mondays - Kinky Afro and giving your views. I'd love to hear that!

Primus is awesome. My favorite band I have ever come across. Les Claypool also has a lot of abstract side projects. They are currently on a tribute tour that does Rush like no other band could, as well as 1.5+ hours of Primus greatest hits. Absolutely fantastic tour, the best I have been too.

Yeah, Les is a lead bassist. Has such a unque take on playing bass. As a bass player myself I really appreciate what he does, but mostly how he lays down a groove. I mean you have taooing and popping and slapping, but there is always a ore groove going for the audience to move to. And that to me is what makes him a master.

Primus is great! Thanks for this! The drummer has talked about playing in such a way as to allow room for the bass, so he tends to use his hands to maintain rhythm and the kick to play around Les. They are so cohesive. Please check out “the Storm” from their album “The Desaturating Seven” which is based on a book called The Rainbow Goblins

I'm pretty sure Jay Lane is the drummer on that album, and has been since Green Naugahyde. All of the participants of Primus are phenomenal, but I don't know what it is, I crave Herb's drumming!

@@scottfogel7614 I believe Herb was the OG, but quit at some point and rejoined from Green Nauguhyde on, Lane is awesome too though, and Brain is not to be forgotten for the album that has Shake Hands with Beef on it.

You'll be fine mate. We didn't choose the life of being musicians/(de)composers, we just have to do it. You'll adapt and overcome the obstacles I'm sure :) ✌️❤️🇦🇺

Don't apologize for giving us more content! Primus is fantastic! I think you'd like the flamenco technique Les uses on American Life (and several other songs). One band I haven't seen you do is Amon Amarth. They're death metal with Viking themes and mythology throughout their songs. Raise Your Horns would be a good one to check out, for the tone that Johan Hegg is able to put into his growls.

this primus piece remembered me of "can’t get the motor to start" by nick mason's fictitious sports.
