I just fix the same problem with my dad by sticking a debit card beneath the tab and fix it in there with loctite on the inner part of the black cover.By making "a wider tab", the card prevent the pin from rolling out of position. Hope this helps.

You're welcome no problem just remembered by doing that to make sure that your car is in park when you pull the key out cuz you will be able to pull the key out if it's in neutral in the truck would roll away

It'll work in a pinch you did a good job video was nice I found my pin and I pushed it back in and it worked but if I didn't find that pin I would have did the same thing you did it saved you a lot of money some people don't have a 150 bucks for a new shifter assembly

Although this will work, by disabling the key lock switch, you can now leave your car in neutral and remove the key, which makes it vulnerable to rolling off. Only saying this out of safety concerns, but I do appreciate the information.

This is happening to my truck it's been like this for a year and it's missing the rode and little silver spring where you zipped up. Any idea what the name of the piece is

I haven't been able to find just the pin. Pretty sure Ford/Mercury planned it that way so that you have to buy the whole shifter assembly. You can find the shifters on eBay for about $70 though.

You're welcome just be sure that your truck is in park when you pull the key out because by doing this it will disable the key lock and the key will be able to come out if the truck is in neutral and the truck would roll away
