If 4 analog channels are not enough, you can take connect several scopes together using BNC cables. The 10 MHz reference signal from the primary scope can be sent to the other scopes (so they all share a common clock domain). The trigger signals can be sent from one to another using the trigger-out and trigger-in BNCs.

Nice wrap up Johnnie! Very good information--much of which is not understood well by the general public! Enjoyed the homage to several universities. Semper Fi!

it was our pleasure to learn from a great teacher like you sir...god bless you. I bought an older version used Agilent Infiniium 54845A 1.5Ghz scope instead going for Rigol new scope both were at same price tag, really judging with my experience on Fluke , Tektronix and Rigol (i have older one), HP/Agilent scope ease of use is superior...I really Love the Infiniium scope.

Same for my Siglent SHS820X. This series was even useful for my older Hantek DSO.

This was a great series and you are a great tutor. Chapeaux+well done. I don't have a keysight oscilloscope, but could "transport" this keysight knowledge easily to my Rigol MSO5000. Is the work smarter T-shirt for sale?

It seems there are a lot of hobbists that own a Rigol MSO5000 oscilloscope. It seems to be the best for the buck you can get.

Hello Rense, I don't think the "Work Smarter" T-shirt is for sale. I received this T-shirt from the group within Keysight that produces the EDU series of power supplies, DMMs, and waveform generators. Sorry.

Dr. Frank, is it Dr. Frank Viggiano? Thanks for watching and commenting on this new video series. Today is my last day of employment at Keysight technologies after a 42-year career at HP/Agilent/Keysight. Even though I am retiring from the test & measurement industry, I look forward to continue to support engineering students in learning about the fundamentals of oscilloscopes and how to use them. Semper Fi.

One thing that bugs me about all modern scope manufacturers is that they build a "mid-tear" scope with the hardware to reach 1GHz+ but then limit the bandwidth in software and make you pay through the nose to activate it. Not that long ago, scopes didn't have software options and the hardware inside was what you paid for. If you wanted a 100MHz scope, you paid for a 100MHz scope and that's what you got. These days you pay for a 1GHz scope but are only allowed to use a fraction of it. Designing a 1GHz front-end is child's play for the likes of Tek, R&S and Keysight but they continue to charge a fortune to allow people to use it. Mid-tear scopes (Tek 4 series, MSOX4000, MXO4 etc) should be offered with 500MHz bandwidth minimum these days and that should be at the entry level price. This overpricing will continue unless customers start demanding better value for money.

It's cheaper to manufacture one "model" of scope with the same hardware than to make 4 different models. SOMEONE has to pay for that advanced hardware. This allows entry level scopes for the home hobbyist for a much lower price than could otherwise be offered.

Love the corporate lies. The input hardware can handle the bandwidth. You fools purposefully software limit the input bandwidth to make an excuse to charge insane money for a scope. Siglent and rigol are going to put you guys out of business.
