I love this video! Sickest editing skills! My son loves this video. Imma be doing the same mod to my son's power wheels silverado. Already did the 18v mod with the screw in the gear shift removed for high mode. Steering mod for better turning radius. Rubber on the tires. Now this motor upgrade will top it off! Did you swap for the 775 motors AND do the 18V conversion? He never mentions if he changed to higher voltage or kept the original 12V, so I’ve been wondering…

I just put this together. When I was tightening the bottom stearing stem bolt up the weird wrinch it comes with slipped off and I smashed me right in my eye lol. Black eye for Christmas.

Exactly the motor went on our dune racer this video doesn’t help at all on how to do the replacement. I’m not a mechanic but I am educated just need to actually see how it is done.

Bought a used one of these yesterday. 12 volt batteries seem to be dead. They aren't charging fully. So ordered a new battery and charger and looking at the dewalt upgrade.

We had two of these power wheels in our neighborhood, I ended up running them on a ryobi 20v battery with a buck regulator to drop it down to 12v but its awesome to see that there are indeed 20v motors we can get to just run off the batteries straight. We've got a stripped gearbox on one now any recommendations?

You can go on amazon and order all new motors and gear boxes mad cheap . 550 motors and gear boxes like $30 for both sides 👍

It's a good video but it would have been better if u could have showed the speed difference between the two motor or somehow show the difference in speed and torque to c if its actually worth spending the money for the upgrade

hey question for you i just installed these in my daughters dune racer along with the 24v battery upgrade and running in the high gear I'm only seeing maybe 10 mins of continuous runtime. are you getting that as well? thanks

No we get about an hour. That being said, I’m using two rather large batteries wired to make 24V. How are you getting 24V and what size batteries are you using?

@@KeystoneCarry I ordered the upgraded motors 775 along with the 24v battery upgrade with upgraded switches and brake reduction from MLtoys and on high peed only getting about 10 mins runtime. i emailed them they just said to follow the break in process which i did but while doing that one motor would not spin up like the othe other motor and would stop while other motor spins fast. maybe that could be the reason? IDK, i emailed them again just waiting on that

Do the batteries have an amp/hour rating? Our yard is also almost completely flat and I keep the grass short. Hills and tall grass will affect run time too

Nice video, but for everyone who actually wants to do it, you can buy a whole replacement new custom gearbox which already has a 775 motor bolted to it for less than $30 a piece on any of the Chinese shopping sites (can’t mention them or YT will delete my comment). The motors themselves are about $9-10 a piece delivered.

The gears in the gear box won't strip? My nephew I got him this same power wheels for Christmas. I got Small rubber tiree from a small quad, cut out the sidewalls and slid them on to the plastic tires it came with. It gave it much better grip and seems its a bit faster. I know it's probably already putting alot more stress on the gearbox tho. Im guessing if i added these motors it will most definitely cause them to mess up? What do you think? Do they sell any gears to replace the plastic ones it comes with?

My kid's asking me to make his Mustang faster. I've already done full electrical mods (fashers, low/high beams, fog lamps, underglow, instrumentation etc) - It'll be stored for the winter soon, but I think over the winter I will order the motors to make it faster for him. Kid already figured out how to powerslide it and do 180s...

Darn it I guess I have to do the same thing for my kids truck 😂. I gave it a battery size upgrade it's a 7 amp hour 24 volt battery. Ice stack two more to it giving it 21 amp hours or so. At 24volts but the motors seems to give up after few laps of off road travel

I feel like their video contest was more aimed towards an instructional video... Most people that search power wheel upgrades are wanting instructions, not "I did this and this, now here's my kid". Don't get me wrong, good video, but honestly it was a waste of time for people wanting to know step by step how to change out a power wheels motor.

They aren't really faster since the gearing stayed the same, they're just more powerful. The biggest speed upgrade is when going to a higher voltage battery.

Did the pinion gears stay on the motor with just the set screw? Mine fell off almost right away. They didn’t stand up to all the torque.

$100 for the motors?? you can get 775 for $15...( the problem is, it has lower RPM) Not worry about motors...I have plenty of ($20) 3650 3300kv brushless motors and 80Amps esc.($25).it'll have twice the power of a brushed 550. I also have lots of 4076 2250KV (775) with 150A (4-6 cells- 16v-24v). You just have use a Y harness with 2-ea esc... get electric SKATE BOARD esc It;s the PLASTIC GEARs in the gear box... It's not the second gear that will strip..either...It's the Third gear ...with the bigger teeth from all the torque/or braking. There's ways around it...just install a live axle like a go kart 1000 watt brushed 36v-48 ( under $100 with Esc and throttle) depending on the kid 500watt 36V is more than plenty ( 1000watt is only $5 more). You dont have to run it on 48V...until they get older...it's most for over heating protection.... Most of the money are on batteries... or...be on the look out for E 200-E300 used razor scooter The have 350 watt brushed/and esc..You have to fine a way to mount the spocket/brake.. to the plastic piece ( between the motor and gear box.)..or fabricate one. it'll do 12 -15 mph

I just installed the 775 motor upgrade in the power wheels dune racer. After installation we tried it and it runs great for a minute and then stops and the battery needs to be disconnected and reconnected for it to start again. Do you have any idea of what to troubleshoot before I have to take the whole car apart again? If one of the connections to the motor comes loose or it not contacting enough would that cause the whole car to shut down? When you step on the pedal nothing happens and there is no sound coming from any of the components. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using the stock battery? Power wheels batteries have a built-in breaker. If you upgraded the motors, that may be tripping.

Good video. I found that doing a dual Lithium battery upgrade is the way to go for a safe more power, quicker charging, and longer drive time.
