Kalameet was much easier in this one. He only had two or three attacks and didn't use his life draining move at all so Luke could just sit under him and wail away. That, plus Luke avoiding the Artorias fight left me disappointed with this one.

The emotional rollercoaster/journey this episode took me on is not to be understated. The accuracy of Luke "The Prophet" Westaway and the Artorius prediction, to the shock and, one might say, horror, of what indeed was waiting at the bottom of the slide to Chaos, to the increasingly irritated encounters with Kirk. All fabulous! I also enjoyed the Toxic song parody as well as original westaway song "you all can suck it". Need those added to my playlist asap! I also think that final encounter went amazingly since (thank God) the arena was not conductive to flying and slam attacks from the Big Ol Guy.

@SolaScientia4 ай бұрын
I've been trying to get into Lies of P, and I really enjoyed the first part, especially the factory area. There's a lot I like in terms of the aesthetics, music, and being able to mix and match weapon parts (current favorite is the fire axe handled with the sabre blade). However, I made it up to that Cathedral place with all the enemies throwing crap at me while being precariously perched on narrow beams and I got so frustrated and infuriated that I haven't touched the game in months. One time I made it past the first rolling ball and got annoyed at the enemy right at the ladder, so I went up the ladder and then got more pissed when I realized it wasn't even the right way (that door doesn't open until the next riddle). I then died to the ball that was there and that's when I dropped the game. I've tried going back since some, but I can't get over the enemies throwing stuff while I have zero room to do anything about it. It felt like they looked at Sen's Fortress or other areas, copied the idea, but failed to make it manageable. Even when the Soulsborne games put enemies up on rafters, they don't put as many and I'm pretty sure almost none of them do ranged attacks (if they do, it's much better implemented). So yeah, I want to love the game and I'm sure I'd like it more if I could get beyond this part of the Cathedral, but as it stands, I just can't deal with how they designed that area.
@malElephant4 ай бұрын
@@SolaScientia I played through this bit recently a couple of days ago, as a first time player - I found yeeting all the dudes hanging off ready to ambush with a saw wheel cog from the bottom was helpful - you can also block the ranged attacks which took me way too long to realise - once you get past a certain point, there's a shortcut to get back up easily. I definitely fell down a bunch, which was frustrating, especially since it's a pretty long trek of nothing from the chapel. I would recommend keeping at it if you can, it's such an excellent game

Luke inadvertently saved Solaire... right? By entering Lost Izalith through the Covenant-locked door. I mean, there was no sunlight maggot to loot off the enemies there, but that's gotta be because of the randomizer, no? And I really don't think that 20k souls was from Solaire dying on the other side. The enemies don't attack him and there are no environmental hazards, plus he doesn't spawn there unless we enter Izalith from the usual route. He HAS to be saved! That ending was epic, no other word will do. Also in defense of magic builds, they normally need multiple items to work, typically duplicates of spells to cast them more. Where as a dex build just needs a single good dex weapon to work(IMO demon spear is the best in this game). Randomized makes that a lot harder to pull off.(Also need to use souls to upgrade Pyromancy. Know you mentioned that before but that was much earlier in the game.) I would suggest using soul arrows to poke & draw aggro cause they regen at a bonfire unlike arrows, there's even a staff for low Int, but again, randomized. Who knows when or where you'll find them.

@SolaScientia4 ай бұрын
@@mar_speedman My hate of magic in the Souls games almost entirely stems from absolutely hating having to fight sorcerers. I hate the whole Raya Lucaria part of Elden Ring with a passion. That said, Elden Ring has been the one game where I've created a second character that's running a mix of melee and faith stuff. Incantations are a lot more fun than sorceries in that game at least. Magic in these games, in general, can either fully break the game if you do it right, or make it a truly unpleasant experience. I happily stick to my preferred quality melee build to avoid it.
