So many issues not asked or covered by this interview so I'll throw some out there. Crime stats are not accurate. They are based on what people report and the few cases that cops happen to run into. If they call LAPD and LAPD takes 3 hours or more to respond, then the citizen then cancels the call or is not available then it appears that crime stat is down since that report was not taken. Second, yes he is appointed which means if he says what everyone knows, that democrat leaders and their followers voted for this, then he will be replaced by the democrat mayor and the city council. Defund the police, decriminalize drug laws, make serious crimes into misdemeanors, no bail, etc. All Democrat policies and supported by democrat voters. It's real rich that democrats in CA want to now cry about crime and homelessness. There is a KZbin video of a store clerk in santa monica who went after a shoplifter and when she tried to call the police, they told her to file a claim with her insurance. Not LAPD but the police. The reality is that crime and homelessness is up because the courts and politicians dont enforce the law and made laws more lenient. Thats why you see all the shoplifting and flash mobs thefts. Even if they are caught nothing happens to them. Added that if the police use force to catch them, the officers are villianized and prosecuted and protested on. That's why people don't want to be cops anymore and we have a shortage. We're almost at the ROBOCOP situation where cops are diminishing and ready to go on strike. But crime is not going down and it is not a perception issue. It is a reality since we can read about crime but when someone in our circle is victimized, then the crime rise is real.

Is it really any better? Last time I was there it was a mess. Big change from 15 years ago. Santa Ana River packed with tents, little villages under freeway overpasses. Trash and graffiti everywhere. It’s very sad that for as much as it cost to live in So. Cal there is zero pride in keeping the place clean.

He's not out of touch. He's a hand picked lackey being told what to do & say. When a Chief of police puts more value on "services" instead of enforcing the law it speaks volumes. Additionally, even if the crimes result in arrest, the criminals are quickly released by social justice DA's. God help America 🙏

Good interview as always John. The interim Chief sounds dedicated and I’m sure also frustrated with the higher-ups and their policies. Citizens focusing on working WITH law enforcement has to be better than working against them.

I listened to the show. The Chief has to answer to the communist's that run LA. He has to respond carefully as to not bring heat on himself. His response to the crime data is insulting. The police are put in a place to have to deal with the criminals, homeless crazies, to the point where they couldn't possibly report everything they come across. I've seen many times if crazy guy walks that way and you walk the other way the black and white drives away with nothing reported. Crimes are no longer being reported. 911 operators are not responding to calls, yes not answering calls. Police are taking so many calls that a bus driver this past week did not get help from either LAPD or bus transit police after being attacked, FOR AN HOUR! The news, social media, friends, family, myself have seen, felt more crime. SO DONT INSULT US WITH YOUR DATA!

For burglary from vehicle: they will go if the suspect left on foot and still in an area. Vehicle depending if they left within a few minutes. They will broadcast and detectives will follow up. No suspect description and don't know when they left or happened then they will tell you to make a computer report. John you said what we all are feeling. How about we enforce 48.11

Yup, Villanueva was operating outside the box. Although the sheriff was elected and look what happened to him. They did a hot job working with the LA times and others and took him out. Now LASD has a puppet installed running the department. Back to status quo. Remember when Villanueva was in office, the new constantly spoke about deputy gangs, protest and all. Now, you have literally nothing, as if the issue has been miraculously solved. Laughable, but not funny...

One has to just look at who are his bosses above him. Police commissioner and mayor. Look at their political stance on things. They just want to tell you how wonderful everything is and how good of a job they are doing, especially the mayor.....oh look we just cleared this homeless encampment, then on the back end, another 3 other encampments started 2 blocks down. The wacka mode effect. She thinks, just keep telling us that they're doing a great job and at some point, we might just believe it. Isn't this exactly, what Newsom, Biden, gascon and alike are doing. Oh everything is just fine, the economy is just OK, or the border is secured when its not.. This is the trend now.

this dude needs to let the chief talks....he tries to explain to john but john kept talking over him and he just doesn't understand. People don't understand, they just look at everything from outside. John, its okay that you dont understand but listen and process and dont talk over him when you ask him questions and hes trying to explain something that make sense for you.
