Heres my CB350F I found in a barn that had sustained a fire. Bike was un-scathed. Watch and see if it will run again!
Under $70 was only spent in new parts and materials which includes: New Fuel line and Gas filter, Spark plugs, New battery, Carb cleaner, Baking Soda, Sandblasting sand, Fresh gas, New Dot 4 Brake fluid, Motor oil 10W40, New clutch cable.

Still watching the ad, but I will bet it runs. Co-incidentally, when I tested many years ago for my motorcycle licence, the only person I knew who was able to ride with me under the restrictions was my 84 year old grandfather, and his steed at the time, was a beautiful 350 Four like this one. It's one of the most treasured memories I have of him, he taught me so much about motorcycling and life in general, I miss him everyday. RIP Grampa

Most of those 1970s Honda bikes will last for generations if they're cleaned up regularly because they're built so simple that hardly anything can break. And the sound is just so much better than any of those supersport bikes you hear on the road today.

When my buddy and I were 12, we had small Honda 50cc motorcycles and we road around the his father's field every summer racing and feeling like hell's Angel's. In 1970 when my buddy and I were both 16, he bought a brand new red/white Honda CB350 twin cylinder. He got his license in the spring since his birthday was in January. Mine was in August and I had a CB160 at the time. I remember him taking off down the road and all I could do is watch green with envy. I got my motorcycle license that September but summer was over. But I remember that CB350 he had like it was only yesterday. That bike was amazingly fast! A couple years later Honda came out with the CB350 4 cylinder. I never road one but I couldn't imagine it being any faster than that 350 he had. We were kids, and the memories linger. Time is fleeting

I have a 1973 the same color. I bought it new . I still have it. It still runs. It made a trip across the united States In 1976. It ran 80,85 mph all day long In 114 degree temps. Smooth ride no vibration in fact this motorcycle was one of the most smoothest motorcycles ever made. Made in 1972 and 1973..... Mine has Jordene tuned headers and was rejetted. 10,000 rpm redline it only weighs about 375 lbs. Power to weight ratio make this a fun bike to ride.....

Very cool, I did something similar back in the early 1960's with a 1949 Cushman motor scooter I found in an elderly ladies garage. It had been parked since about 1952 when her husband died. It was not as involved as it was a singular cylinder and carb with a magneto but I rode it for a long time. Best part was I was 14 years old and cut her lawn weekly, she let me have it FREE and I worked it off

I had one these and it looked just like that one. It was the same color and everything.Mine even had the 4 into two exhaust also. I could park it over the winter and next spring all you had to do was turn on the ignition, set the choke and barely bump the starter button and the engine was running. It was the greatest little bike I ever had. When I let other people ride it they were stunned by the gobs of low end torque that the engine produced. I could only get it to top out at 105mph but the low end take off was amazing. This video brought back a lot of found memories for me. Thanks for posting.

My old man bought a new Honda 750 Four super sport in the mid 70's, from Fletchers in Leeds. Think it was 1976, so to say we only had the 400/4 is a bit misleading. They had a 500 twin and i think a 550 four too, though I'm not 100% on that.

In my riding days I always wanted a nice 350/550-4.... but got turned on to rice burners instead, so..... went out and bought a brand spanking new Yamaha RD 400(‘76) and IMO, nothing else is equal to the sound of a 2 stroke engine coming into it’s powerband. Still, the last bike I drove was the classic Honda CB900F Super Sport (‘83) and I put plenty o’miles on that baby! Thanks for the memories 🏍🏍

Just came across this video and it brought back some great memories. In 1982, I made my first long distance motorcycle tour from Virginia to Daytona Beach for Bike Week with four other guys. I was riding a 1981 Honda CB750K. One of the others was on a CB350F his father had found not long before our trip. It looked just like the one in this video but cleaner, with a four-into-one exhaust and standard seat. His dad was along on the ride on his 1977(?) CB750F Super Sport. Before we left they went over the 350F refreshing fluids, checking valve adjustment and doing a compression check. They slapped a big Plexiglas windshield on it and off we went. I remember the sound of the single exhaust header screaming smoothly as he flew down I-95 and I-26 with the throttle pinned in top gear. The bike ran like it was new and without any problems on the nearly 1,400 mile round trip. An impressive little jewel!!

I had been working 2 paper routes for 2 years, saving up for a Honda XL125, when my dad spots a 2 year old CB350F in the newspaper for sale for $600. I really want a dual-sport, but dad wants me to check this out. I fell in love. At 14 - nearly 2 years before I could get a license, I bought my first motorcycle. Dad would ride me down to the schoolyard, where I would practice using the clutch, shifting, braking, and eventually all the other skills I'd need to pass my test. That was a great bike. I once rode with a group of Gold Wing touring bike riders, and had no problem keeping up with them, despite their spirited pace. Before I got my license, my dad would ride the bike to work occasionally. When I got my license and could start riding it regularly, he had to get his own bike. But by then the 350 Four had been replaced by the 400 Supersport, so that's what he got. And he hated the low handlebars. He got the bars from a 750, and I got the low bars for my 350F. We were both happy. I rode quite a bit with my dad. Good times. Thanks for stirring up some fond memories, and thanks for bringing another 350 Four back from the dead.

@@erichuff3135 2 cylinders rose and fell together but as they reached the top one or the other would fire so there was no wait on the exhaust stroke for power as the other cylinder was under power at the same time. Lot of food for thought there in comparison to a 2 stroke twin. the small bore and stroke should put it against a 175 2 stroke twin on the dyno, technically both firing the same except the Honda is using 4 cylinders to get the same result. Like I said just a thought. All the fours were smooth runners.

@@26TptCoy I own the two-cylinder 350 and it's a finicky engine. It can run just fine on one cylinder but have no power. I have never owned a bike that can do that. But if one cylinder is having problems (carbs, ignition etc) it goes from great power to a complete dog. But it will idle like nothing is wrong. I have only owned 4 cyl CB, XJ etc before this current bike so this is all new to me. I will say the bike is light, simple and powerful when tuned in.

@@erichuff3135 I had a 750/4 do the same when a coil failed, usually during rain, and it would idle. When I gave it throttle it started spluttering and had no power so I would be riding the clutch to keep it moving. It was fighting the compression of the cold cylinders. If you want to try something, remove a plug and see if it makes a difference with no compression, may get the fuel mix coming out of the plug hole though. I had a few 250 twins and never had any real problems. The older 250/350's now are being sought for cafe style builds.

Great find and found in very rare condition. But after pulling and rebuilding the carbs, it wouldn't have started right up like it did as all the bowls would have been empty. The gas tank would have needed more than that quick rinse you gave it, and after sitting 34 years all the tires needed was air? I've redone bikes that sat only five years and they needed more than that. This is not me hating; just an observation based on my own experience doing this. But don't misunderstand; this is a great find and a great bike.

Gynotai Thanks for the response! The gas tank still needs a complete flush, I ran a gas filter to keep any crud from entering the carbs, I did turn on the gas in the video and tried to capture it flowing into the gas line and filter and show the viewer this in the raw. The video was over 1 hr and half and I didn’t want to but I had to edit and cut out a ton of stuff I wish I could have kept like time consuming cleaning the petcock, carb and jets that took hours. It’s hard to capture all the details and making the video not too long for the viewer. Thanks for watching.

350 four must have been much nicer to ride then the 350 two cylinder bike. I had a 1977 cb360t . I bought it in feb when I turned 18 Rode it from Portland Oregon to Vancouver BC several times that summer after I graduated from high school. I spent most of that summer riding all over Oregon and Washington. At age 18 on a motor cycle on the open road with a tent and some cooking items it just doesn’t get any better. I will say that was a very small bike for taking up I5 freeway but I didn’t know better and enjoyed every second.

Very impressive. You seem very knowledgable about fixing bikes but I too wonder why you didnt show putting in any fluids to loosen up the pistons or turn the engine over to check for rust in the cylinders. Most of the time you see people put anti seize in and let it sit for a day or so before turning over the engine. Nice to see the old bike running again. Thanks for restoring hisotry.

C90's were (still are) run on for years and this is basically four of 'em in unison! Was there ever any doubt it would run? Probably still be running in another 34 years when most of the new bikes have curled up and died.

Thank you sir. What a great video! Thank you so much for showing your baking soda blasting. The carbs from my Z900 restoration were terrible and had to go to a specialist for rebuilding. It took them three times longer than advertised and cost a horrendous amount. I’ve always loved the little 350/4. They were (are) rare in England, the later 400 is quite common and a favourite first restoration for a lot of people, but I prefer the more classic look of the 350. I hope you can find original exhausts, that would make a full restoration into a joy.

Before you start riding it disconnect the wire to the kill switch, in the headlamp. That horrible switch was a real problem when it got wet. I remember literally years of people suggesting fixes for the mysterious wet weather problem in British motorcycle magazines including replacing the coils. It was that bloody switch.

I had a new CB550 and rode with a friend with one of these 350 Fours. Legend was that these 350's were the smoothest touring bike. 350 with a Windjammer fairing was perfect at 60 mph -- which was fine with Nixon's 55 mph National speed limit. A few years later the 350 was bored out to 400cc and became the very popular 400 Super Sport.

Enjoying my Thursday night. I stumbled across your channel and this video. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this. It brought me back to a time I remember fondly. The care and the attention to detail blew me away. You didn't, right off the bat try to start it up. You did all the necessary maintenance to restore it in fine maniacal order. amazing. I have to wonder how many days this project took. I'm surprised you found parts. I have a history with this motorcycle, well not this very one but you know. Yeah, the two-stroke twins would eat it alive but there was absolutely no beating this little bike in smoothness both in ride and sound. It was slow and yeah, it was heavy but looking back the bike was eons ahead of its time. I note the high idle after the ride. I assume this will go away after a carb recalibration. I envy your find. I noted on another channel about this bike. His approach was "Why Would Honda build a 350 4?" and went on to dog the little bike. I wanted to bitchslap him. I haven't researched the subject but I read somewhere the resell value of this bike today is astronomical. I can not believe how clean it is considering its age. Looks like it was almost kept in an airtight vault. Thank you for sharing this, sir. Cheers from Louisiana.

I had a CB400 twin and then a CB360CL twin with the upswept exhaust pipes to make it a bit more off road capable I guess. Loved them both. The view of the bike as you were riding brought back memories. Wish I hung on to those as I'd love to ride them today.

I restored one of these that was wrecked a few years ago. It had about 20,000 miles on it, but was pretty well maintained for the most part. The biggest hurdle was getting the carbs straightened out, as someone had been into them and got the slides mixed up and re-installed them *BACKWARDS!* As a result, it wouldn't idle properly (super rich), and I fought it for almost 2 weeks until I was explaining the operation of the carbs to a friend, while I had them on the bench, and I finally snapped to the fact that the slides were reversed!🤣 These 350F's didn't have a lot of horsepower, but with some different jetting, K&N filters and a good pipe, they would make a respectable 40-45 hp. (37 stock), and they were extremely smooth compared to the twins that were predominant in the day. 😁 This bike only has 11K on the odometer, and if that's correct, this could be fully restored and ridden for a long time! Check out 4into1(dot)com for any miscellaneous parts you need, They have most everything for the early Honda fours!! 😉👍

when you took the spark plugs out, I would have taken the opportunity to get a bit of oil into the cylinders, and slowly hand-crank the thing a few revs, either from the back wheel in5th gear, or at the alternator... just thinking ;-) I have a 1983 CX650 to get running avfter 20+ years in storage...

I worked at a Honda dealership when this motorcycle hit the show room floors. Everyone saw it as the wife’s bike, or the girlfriends bike. Anyone that wanted to go fast was buying an RD, or Kawasaki triple, a Suzuki GT, not until Honda came out with the CB 400 F did the sport riders start buying.. I actually had three Honda CB 400 F motorcycles. Two red ones, and the yellow one. I flipped the two red ones soon after I bought them,.I had a lot of fun on my yellow one commuting for two years. I loved to wring it’s neck.. I don’t know what Honda had in mind when they introduced the 350 F. It didn’t have the gusto to keep up with the fast boys. It just didn’t have the sizzle. It was looked upon the same way we would look upon a Chevrolet Bel Air station wagon. Why buy a station wagon when you could’ve bought a Corvette or 396 Chevelle SS.That’s the way it was

Of course it will start, but, the main thing I had with the Honda I bought is the wet clutch was stuck engaged. But with a gentle but firm tug with a tow and 3 rd gear and it popped free. Never had a problem except fror a set of plugs and one flat tire. Loved that bike, still wished I had it. At 75y/o that is some good excitement between my legs! Brahaha! My next was a Honda SL175, great bike, but I got over confident and 11 weeks in hospital for back treatments and surgery, forced my bike retirement. But, my bike dreams are still active.

Love it. I had many Hondas, but my late uncle had a Honda 350 Four that I've always wanted. It was smooth running, and surprisingly peppy. I know that I could've made a 7 hour run on a bike like that; hell, I'd done it on a Kowalski KZ400 to take to a cat who wanted to trade bikes; he had an older 750 Four, and I ended up with that. I've owned/ridden many bikes, but if I were able to ride again, the 350 Four would be it.
