This horse is BEAUTIFUL! I can't stop thinking about him. I think I want one! I keep imagining grooming him and trying to be worthy of him! His owner is SO fortunate to have him!

Movements are very natural. Camera trick of slow motion to show the effortless beauty of his stride. How gorgeous!

this is totally natural and amazing to ride!!! I've had many that move like him, it's called suspension ladies! No elastics, no weights either, these boys move just like that naturally, it's one of the many talents some friesians have. They do not all move like this, some are far more suited for dressage and hunter type disciplines. This movement also translate beautifully to the carriage, they also tend to move even bigger in front of the cart.

My guess is that he's being trained with elastic bands and/or weight-boots, like they often to with american saddlebreds to enhance the horse's movements. It doesnt hurt the horse, but the added weight from the boots or the resistance in the elastic rope makes the horse lift its legs higher.

This is quit normal for frisians. Some throw up the same, or even higher. Beautifull horse, wish that mine would run like that, mine is lazy haha ;-)

This may not look natural to some, but he wouldn't be able to do it if it weren't. He's obviously not sored or using any artificial means of achieving that kind of motion. Probably resistance training and exercise, like any human would do in a gym. Excellent horse!!! However, I'm in agreement about the concrete thing... and it looks slick too... very scary. I've seen one of these guys splat on just normal dry concrete. It's enough to make your heart stop.

It's you, this is how they run, even as a foal. This is a very ancient breed, Knights used to ride them.

He may have a flaw that we can't see in this video. For example, he might have a tiny white star on his forehead. Male Friesians with stars are not permitted to reproduce according to the breed's very strict standards. They are often gelded.

have you noticed he picks his right foreleg higher than the left? could be a sore left shoulder or sore right hip. not HURT just SORE like a sore muscle after a long workout? just an observation. he's beautiful

@horsebabyhehe Some horses can also be more agile on a side than the other? (like that you said that the right foreleg is lifted higher than the left) Sorry if you don't get me ^^;

@MatildeBrandt Most of the Friesians have such movements, but not as extreme as this gelding, though xD It's pretty hard to get along with their movements, though. I'm used to 'normal' horses (from equestrian centers) and have ridden several times now on Friesians.. Bloody hell, never again I'll remain sitting with those trots :')

@MatildeBrandt Sorry, I didn't know that. Interesting that you know of Leeuwarden, though, but that aside. And they've probably used something to get such movements, yes. I sometimes see on KZbin how different horses like a Tenessee Walker (I guess?) move, naturally and 'trained' o.ô But I agree with you that it isn't very good/natural, the trot the gelding shows here.. And I don't mind your English. Mine could have some mistakes too, since I'm Dutch :')

@xpcexhapynesx3 I've never seen one which so high knees before ... But i dont like so big gaits either, it looks un natural - wether it is a friesian or a warmblood. So many horses cant move around in a pasture or under saddel without hurting them self and have to be wraped in diffrent legprotection - just because we have made their gaits to extreme through breeding.
