Yeah, the Locust can be a game changer. I had one running around for like 20 turns, when I lose initiative I'd run away, and when I won, I'd move in, shoot and kick something, and then fall back. I did that until the fickle dice gods turned on me and I got legged. It was so much fun.

I never understand why people mention the Locust only carrying 4 tons of armor. It’s literally the maximum amount that ANY 20 ton ‘mech can carry. And I think it’s more than the Commando carries.

It gets brought up to show how little armor it actually has. having said that - 1/4 of it's tonnage is armor, which isn't too bad. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I do love the little Locust. It is a mech that can go out there and just frustrate the opponent to no end. A really good friend of mine at the time who got me into BattleTech. We back in the late 80s and early 90s. But he always loved to play the Locust, and he had just a knack of making other players just go madly insane trying to hit him. I remember one time we were at a gaming con, and he ran down a line of enemy mech. In his Locust, they all stopped and turned their backs to us just to try to shoot at him. There were 10 mech in a line. All the mech shot at his Locust and missed him. The only mech was able to hit him was a Thunderbolt with his SRM 2 for only two points of damage. Needless to say, for the rest of the game, he drove them quite batty trying to hit him. It was funny to watch. He just had a reputation for doing that, and he was quite a great Locust pilot, at least in my book.

In my game last weekend, the Locust was my MVP again. It raced around, I think took a single medium laser hit, and kept behind everything ,blasting with 2 ML and 2 SL - and then kicking. It was great.

Locust is either a spoiler or spotter, very much so. Unless it is rear arc on someone, it basically has no business shooting another 'mech. It can ruin the day of infantry, harass vehicles and call down heavy firepower from the back line as a spotter. If someone looks at it sideways, though it is not going to live, not even because it is under-armoured, just that it never had much anyway, and a side hit is very quickly going internal and then onto the CT.
