KGW Community Camp 2023!

Hello lovely people!!!
My one and only regret about this camp is not filming more of it but I was just too busy enjoying myself and getting to know all the incredible people who made the effort to come along! I had people come from far and wide across the UK to join me on my first ever community camp and I am already excited about next year! I am still so humbled by the effort people went to for this camp and will be eternally grateful for each and every one of you!
I am still sad that some people had to and/or chose to leave early for various reasons including, leaky tents and impending stormy weather warnings, and so sorry I didn't get to say a proper goodbye to everyone in the morning as everyone made a quick getaway to dodge the storms (we failed miserably lol!).
Next year will be even better and hopefully my order for good weather will be listened to next year!
Thank you all - it was such a great weekend! I think everyone got what they wanted from the experience, to see the moors, to meet new friends, to have some down time and escape the rat race, to have a laugh with a few beers around the fire... just brilliant!

What an absolutely wonderful time we had. I thought I would have to abort when I suffered from an unfortunate floppy pole, luckily Claires liberal application of gaffer tape soon straightened things out, and happily it stayed up all night despite getting very wet. I will definitely have to stock up on mead for our next jaunt. Thank you J for assuring I went to bed in a delightfully inebriated state.😊 A weekend full of laughter in a beautiful place, with beautiful people, and fond memories of aching ankles Thank you so much for making it happen you lovely lady xxx

You bring tears to my eyes....,,,,,,, Pancake mix.. 1 peeled and sliced Orange. 1 Peeled and sliced Apple. Place frying pan on to hot cooker or open fire. Add spoon of Butter allowing to soften adding sliced Apple and Orange until they turn lightly brown. Add sugar to taste. Place cooked Pancake onto plate and spoon fruit over half. Fold over half pancake then add whipped cream. You can add Lemon to taste if you wish to. Enjoy hope you feel more energy first thing in mornings while camping out.. It was an amazing camp despite the crazy weather that was thrown at us.... I won't lie, the thunder and lightning did scare me a bit 😂 it was awesome meeting all you amazing people and seeing all you other amazing people that i met before, you are all so genuinely incredible....and lovely Karen, you and Hubby were amazing hosts ♥ Dave the legend it was an honour to throw your ball repeatedly 😂 and lovely Walter, great to see you again ♥ 🐶 🐶 Loved the whole experience and thank you so much for inviting me ....looking forward to seeing you all again ☺ hoping the next time i can join on a walk 🤞 I hope we get to see some northern lights next time too 😂 and we have another mead drinking night, sooo flippin funny 😂😂 Thank you all, it was magical 🦄

Hi Karen, Great to see you all enjoying yourselves, you all looked very well behaved even during soggy times on the moor🌧🌩.The latter reminded me of my walking club when we first started up, we used to stretch from horizon to horizon. Racing snakes at the front that wanted to do 27 miles and the Collins Mini-gemers at the back debating whether its wild garlic or a chrysanthemum😂🤣😂 Cheers Graham

The shelter in your garden is a brilliant idea! A little home from home with the outdoor space you need, and the ability to have a fire is awesome!!! I don’t do loads of foraging to be fair but absolutely love wild garlic, three cornered leaks, plantain heads (taste purely of mushroom!) berries when they’re in season. I stay away from mushrooms because I’m not confident enough. Thanks Mick xx

🇬🇧🏕️😊👍❗️ looked awesome!….in spite of that pour down just in time for ‘pack-up’ day🙄. Looked like everyone had a great time, congrats on the first KGW community camp, careful it doesn’t become a victim of it’s own success otherwise it’ll get like Glastonbury 🤣👍. Stuff like this shows how diverse out tastes/experiences/budgets are for our outdoor gear and whether you’re a novice or a seasoned outdoors person everyone learns something from the others. Prime example is hiking poles, some folks might scoff at the prolific use of poles by the group on your hike ( I used to be a ‘pourer of scorn’ on walking poles myself). In wet & greasy conditions where fatigue can also start to be an issue, poles reduce the likelihood of you having a fall/slip/trip & when you’re stood up on a rock in a howling gale they just help you keep balance, no brainer 🙂👍. (If in doubt, poles give versatility in tarp setups). “Those who believe they know everything, have the most to learn” 🏕️😎👍

Absolutely agree 100%!!! My poles have saved me slipping in streams, falling into bogs, they’re brilliant! I just do what works for me which I think is what we should all do. If a cheap tent works for you, brilliant. If you want and afford a Hille you go for it. As long as we’re all out doing it what does it matter? Thank you so much for watching.
