But it does. Look to Russia to see what it looks like when you trump (lol) up charges and throw the opposition in jail. It also makes sense to be elected while in prison. I'm certain the founding fathers were quite aware of the ability of a government to declare the opposition criminals and bar them from being elected. While Trump is hardly the cleanest case, it doesn't take too much effort to imagine how it could be used in nefarious ways to keep opposition suppressed.

To those saying “no one is above the law”, sorry that’s simply not true. I was injured in a hit and run accident in downtown Portland in 2022 and I provided DA Schmidt’s office with a silver platter of dash cam evidence. It was an open and shut case. They even admitted that on the phone with me. The guy got arrested then released. They chose to not prosecute. That wasn’t the kind of crime they were focused on.

He's not going to go to prison, and he can and will still run for president I don't understand why anyone is celebrating.

@@a.w.cormier4355 and I assure you, he will get little to no consequence for it. In fact, it might actually boost his ratings. I'd say hold your celebrations until after the election and he isn't president.

@@a.w.cormier4355 oh, very true but he can still run for president. He could in theory run the country from a prison cell. It's highly unlikely but my point is folks are celebrating literally nothing. He won't see a prison cell unfortunately. Just some hearty fines we'll all end up paying and some community service.

The way that the jury instructions were given, there was no choice BUT to convict. . . Not changing my mind on who I am voting for. . . If anything. . . It confirmed it ❤
