Does anyone note that Defendant's defense is how could such a lovely wife with a lovely man and a lovely relationship - how could that lovely wife kill her husband? -- it could not be the defendant -- is that a romance story?

Or a wife who doesn't care if their mortgage payments fall in arrears and they end up on the street when they lose everything but the husband's life insurance because Nancy would not let those payments be late! She wanted to be widowed & wealthy. And I also took note when Nancy talked about having to have reno's made after their house fire. I wonder how their house caught fire. She wouldn't be the first arsonist & murderer to come down the pike.

This is the first "complete" trial I have watched now in youtube. I always wonder how it must feel to be in court for the first time because the women you sold a house or weapon to is accused of killing someone. Must be very weird

Some of the defense questions may seem immaterial but, I usually come away with knowing why they asked that. Asking if scarves were folded vs thrown in, shows somebody in a hurry without regard for the scarf's value. To me, a lot of the defense makes her look more guilty. @@tourdedogue4952 I’ve been in court in Texas, Georgia and Southern California. There’s polite, fake polite and firm. I’ve not seen disrespect from the court, but I’ve never seen a group hug scene either. Judges often wait until the conclusion and often meet privately to pay respects to the jurors who serve. They often don’t during the trial or otherwise in public out off an abundance of caution to avoid any indication of favor or bias. Just because it’s on TV and streaming doesn’t mean they need to perform to the publics expectation.

Just making a bit of light humor in a horrible murder, but, continuing with the Portlandia quirks, like proximity of prosecution witnesses to an alleged murderer, bad sound, etc; why in the world is the video screen above and behind the witness who have to stand up and use a pointer. Surely we have a better courtroom in Multnomah County than this during this public sensational 6-wk trial! (Oh, and the Detective with the full head of black hair smoothed back and a beard....well, just noting, he sounds like Michael Madsen in Thelma and Louise.)
@GH-oi2jf

That large video screen is positioned for easy viewing by the jury. That’s what matters. The witness also has a small screen for viewing, so it is only when he has to use a pointer that it is a little awkward.

Isn't this a brand new courtroom? Like spanking brand new? The way it's organized is a mess, plus, there's no provision for technology. Seriously, white paper pads? Presumably, the screen has to be on that wall so the jury can see it. The other problem is that the defense attorney has Nancy sitting on the end of the table staring down witnesses. She should be controlling her!. Even the appearance of intimidation is a bad idea.

someone can say they think something is odd - but what if they are odd? who is vouching for the person who is testifying that they are not actually bonkers. When a prosecution resorts to presenting gossip, personal opinions and conjecture from random silly people as evidence - surely surely it is obvious that the cops have not really done the hard yards. It isn't enough to think someone is odd (different to you) and that they have done some things that have not been even asked about (or that the person who is within their rights to not speak to them) and are not explained when that is ALL they have.
