A check is anything that you check for an item. i.e. a chest, a boss, certain cutscenes. Make sense?

@@robertwindshade7629 That does make sense! Like when you fight a boss and normally get an item, you're checking in these runs if they give you something else right? Are these runs looking for specific checks? Some seem more important than others.

@@stuartpratuch7036 The goal of Rando is to find the 3 proofs: the Proof of Non-Existence, Tranquil Proof, and Proof of Connection. When you find them, you can beat the game. (If Promise Charm is enabled, it lets you skip all of The World that Never was, by talking to the computer in the Garden of Assemblage if you have all three proofs.) Other than the Proofs (and Promise Charm if enabled), Magicks, Summons, Reports, Drive Forms, along with Second Chance and Once More are considered "Important" Checks, which are checks that can be hinted towards by the Reports. i.e if you find a report that says "Twilight Town has 6 important checks" then you can find any 6 of the total 50-ish important checks there. I kinda went a bit off topic, but I hope this answers your question.

@@stuartpratuch7036 There is a website that reads the pnach file of the seed, and based off that generates text files (hints) for each report. It has some basic logic, like Proofs are always hinted, so if a proof is on drive forms, all the forms are hinted, if it's in 100 Acre Woods, then all the torn pages are hinted. i.e. Let's say you find Report 7 in Agrabah, so you go to the Report 7 text file, and it will tell you that has If there are none, it will say is a heartless choice.

whats that sub gift noise tho? also im suprised theres no full game overhauls with how much people are able to change. its easy to remove cutscenes and maintain their flags and just overlap the entire story with text segments.

It's just that we don't have the source code. Massive overhauls are really difficult when you have to make all the tools yourself through deconstructing the compiled code. I assume it was a struggle to find out what they have now, let alone what they'd need to figure out to do overhauls.

This is a weekend tournament hosted by SpikeVegeta. The aim is for a quick tournament that is low commitment unlike most speedrun tournaments that take months to even a year to finish. There's a qualifier run and the top 16 in that run are seeded in the tourney. BB got 1st so he is the first seed and his opponent, TheLetterZed, is the 16th seed. After this round, there are two others BB needs to face before the final round. As far as the run itself goes, each 1-on-1 race shares a rando seed between both players, as opposed to the qualifier which shared a seed between every contestant, and whoever finishes first moves onto the next round. BB has also chosen not to look at chat as that could help him in the race, and on a similar subject, none of the participants know the seed's name so they can't peek in the spoiler log ahead of time to cheat the race.

so the reports, are they how he's finding out where things are? like someone ran the seed before , wrote down stuff and if you find a report you get to look at the stuff? something along those lines? or did the mod creator actually mod the reports to say stuff like that?

It's an external program you drop the seed into, which reads the seed and finds where all the "important checks" are. Whenever you tell the program you found a report it then spits out the checks of a world.

Seems that players racing over the same bracket position are, but other sets of racers are playing a different seed from them

People directly competing with each other run the same seed, otherwise you could end up having one player have an insanely difficult seed and the other a really easy one. So everyone in the qualifier used the same seed, BB and Z used the same seed for this match, Spike and his opponent used the same seed for their match, etc.
