Khaios I know I'm just a humble individual on the platform who doesn't have anything to him just yet but I'd like to make a request if you'll hear it. I was watching a calamity mod show case by Myra Terraria in their goozma fight video where they have this awesome mega builds draedon lab arena. I struggle to find people building extravagant arenas so if it's something that would interest you in trying it would love to see some arena mega builds since I tried my hand at a Greek inspired mega arena but I'm having trouble. Much love and nice to see you back to doing what you love.

your “what is a block” section just gave me flashbacks to managing storage systems in multiplayer worlds… the chest labelled “blocks” would always get things like ropes, furniture… things i had other chests for, and i could never get my friends to remember what belonged where! also, great to see you back in action! just in time, i’ve been reviving my interest in terraria lately!

Being the chest organizer guy on a server with friends is such a unique kind of pain... On one playthrough I couldn't stop one of them from repeatedly putting random items in the herbs and seeds chest (if I recall correctly, one time it was like a full stack of dynamite). I gave up after our GetFixedBoi run lol

@@MeloniestNeon yeah, our groups solution to that is to have a dump chest area so whoever is managing the storage can do it to their liking, or rush a automated storage system if the game has it (or add a mod that adds it, create and magic storage are my beloved)

People SWEAR by Magic Storage but honest to god I really, really, *REALLY* don't like something about how Magic Storage and ME systems (minecraft) feel. It itemizes your belongings in such an abstract, impersonal way that REALLY gameifies the experience in a way I just do not vibe with. I drive my friends crazy by swearing to never use one. It's strange, because I don't mind a very similar concept, which is a network where you're linking up actual storage units (chests, etc) to a network so you can pull them from the same withdraw/deposit point, because that's basically a GUI to an automated storage system. It's when you turn everything into jumbled nonsense with no sense of physical substance that I don't vibe with it.

Can't help in any significant way, so let me offer both some algorithm fodder and, hopefully, some encouragement: You taught me that, though sometimes overwhelming, Terraria's building potential was beyond what I had ever imagined. Thanks to you, I always make hoik entrances to my snow towns, put a fancy little house around my pylons, and managed, when I had the game on my phone, to make Wan Shi Tong's Spirit Library and a functional loading pinwheel. You've fundamentally changed and permanently improved how I see and play my favorite video game in the world, and for that I'm immensely grateful. I wish the subjective tier list were the longer one. Hearing about an experienced builder's opinions on how useful a block is in building is infinitely more interesting and valuable than just going over what blocks have what features and arbitrarily stacking them up based on that.

Amazing video, glad to see you back. I feel like Chlorophyte ore should be up a tier or two on the objective list because of it's properties that not only allow it to spread to mud blocks, but also because it can purify evil/hallow grass into jungle grass, and converting dirt into mud blocks. Couldn't see any of that mentioned in the spreadsheet

It's so nice to see you again, I really hope you managed to figure everything out and won't have to face similiar issues again! Personally I think I would put several blocks (mostly stone and wood related, typically painted gray/brown respectively) in the S tier purely based on how universally good they look in builds even if they don't have as much other utility. These are: ebonstone/crimstone/iron brick, copper plating, rich mahogany/ash/dynasty wood and large bamboo. I also think crystal blocks deserve a better ranking, they can look absolutely stunning when painted either with a vibrant color like teal/pink or they can also work well when painted gray. I'm also kinda surprised by the pearlstone and iridescent brick placement, they first one can be a good stone blend when painted white and pearlstone bricks don't look bad either

Perhaps it'd be a fun challenge for you to create some builds with heavy use of blocks from the subjective F-tier. Perhaps a small build per block. (Totally not suggesting this because I've built an entire castle out of pearlstone brick before)

I love crystal blocks (you put them in d tier of objective list) for making builds that look like "corrupt" houses. Especially the boxy ones so it looks like a starter base got consumed by hallow (i also throw in some aether brick because they're cool af).
