Thank you for this wonderful video on these lovely birds. I lucked out when I brought home 2 Khakis (+1 other breed) The khakis were about 3x the cost & I hope for at least 1 hen. Got my drake & hen. I was taught later how to sex them. I urge beginners to listen to the instructions on this as it is a really great tool to have if buying at a large outlet. I love my "slightly skittish" khakis & hope to incubate eggs soon. I handled them daily as chicks. They won't come up close to me, but when feeding or changing water they will come near to me. At night once they've settled in the coop, I can pet or handle them without much or any fuss. They've just started laying eggs consistently-age 7 months. They're an adorable inseparable couple & live with my buff chanticleer & partridge rocks- all raised together from chicks, the ducklings 3 weeks older. Until month 5, the ducks were "boss". After losing 1 duck, the chickens now rule. They all🦆🐔🐓 forage together but the 🦆's aquiess to 🐔🐓's choice of scraps, feeders. Now that egg production has increased, I have no want of any other breed. These are beautiful, independent yet handleable, great egg layers who don't cause any fuss. They do talk a lot when let out in the morning or whenever I do checks or feedings. It's pretty adorable- not loud but definitely a long conversation! 🦆🥰🦆

Ours also require a long conversation in the morning😂

@@rebeccawestfall9926 haha!! So adorable. I sold off my extra roosters as my hens were getting mauled. Now, my drake is mounting my hens!? Is that rare?

Are they loud ?
@boonmsgt Жыл бұрын
@@lyndonbrown8786 they make duck sounds. But I don't think they are that loud. And they only do that when startled or separated from flock. I currently have 22 in total. 6 drake and 16 hens. They started laying about two weeks ago. Lots of eggs and they are delicious.

Yes they sound off when it’s feeding time, when a predator comes near and when I’m just walking by. They chatter often when free ranging also.

I have three Khaki Campbell duckling added to my small flock of Cinnamon Queen hens. The free range in my apple and stone fruit orchards, as well in the poultry yard. Both ducks and chickens have there separate mobile coop, those the chickens seem to prefer laying eggs in the duck’s nesting boxes since we have a broody hen sitting on 14 fertile eggs. My reasoning for adding ducks was three fold: additional foraging was primary, additional egg laying and taking advantage of their skittish behavior as a warning to the chickens of aerial predators. So far, so good.

I need help! I think I have a khaki Campbell. Came to my s via my kids school. Injured leg. About 3 weeks now, leg is doing much better. My question is, drake or hen? I’m still a little confused. All brown, orangish feet, dark bill. Personality lol. Well, quickly became my lap dog. She? Loves me so much. Follows me. Naps with me when I sit outside. A little protective…that has me now wondering if we should name our Daisy, Davey lol and concerned with how the spring will be with our chickens and their new duck friend. Still in quarantine, she is outside all day (stays very close to the house and front door) and in a nest box for the night on a protected porch. Please help identify the sex. Thanks so much. I can send pis

I presented my khaki Cambell’s flying like 20 m long and 2 m high. More then once. However, they have no intention to fly away

Why do the hatcheries say the lay an average of 340 or more eggs a year?
@telsclark6 ай бұрын
They do in the Frist 2years of laying then it slows down a bit but they never stop laying

2:44 Does that duck have double eyes? 🤔
@tituswillow Жыл бұрын
A duck sleeps with one eye open. Their brains are split so to say so that one side allows rest while the other stays awake to watch for danger. Domestic ducks that are comfortable can rest both sides and close both eyes. Is that what you were asking? lol

If getting 10 ducks and looking to breed them what male to female ratio would you recommend. Also how do i know what eggs are fertile which to use as eggs and which to out in a incubator.
@missryanswers Жыл бұрын
4:1 x2=10 👍have fun!!!
@Rectify215 ай бұрын
You have to put them in the incubator for about 7 days. Then you can candle them and see if they are fertile.

Is it khaki Campbell duck egg is small size?
@krystalgregors77312 жыл бұрын
They might look small on the screen but in actuality they're much larger than large eggs they're considered extra large and they're a lot larger than a small egg let's say a bantam egg or something lol

You did a great job with this video. I wanted to see what was on the net about KC's cuz I have had four of them for a few months. I decided to hand rear them and I thought their eggs would be a good addition to our flock. I have a cuckoo maran rooster, a buff orpington hen, a Barred rock rooster, two frizzles one of which is a frazzle I think (poor thing. We named her HeiHei {from Moana) lol) Anyway- I love my birds. I am at the point where I prefer Roosters to dogs because they're more interesting and affectionate. Anyway- LOVED this video! To anyone watching this video and reading this comment I have a little mini farm but I'm also obsessed with my animals and taking the highest care possible of them and yeah everything in this video is totally accurate my Khaki Campbells are exactly how they described. I have a swedish blue as well and gets along great but my swedish blue is definitely a lot louder than the Campbells I can't believe how quiet the Campbells are! they only ever quack when they're hungry. 🤣🤣 Anyway great vid good job info is 💯

1st get outta here with the good for meat... They are GREAT for being your best friends. 2nd I beg to differ, bc My wife and I kick it with 2 brothers who were dropped off at our local lake/park and they are HUGE (definitely more than 5lb) and despite being endearingly called "Donkey butts" PREFER to walk, but have been observed flying like Champs to chase little girl ducks to give them the "cork screw"

PS despite everyone who is familiar with them, thought they would struggle to survive in that environment, among all wild mallards... To the contrary, Haggar (the doctor) and his brother Dockers (the professor) have grown from mischievous bullies to organizing a cohesive society they lead better than most countries
