The braid outs do slow the locking process but they also compress the locs which helps them to be uniform, cylindrical and avoid bunching.

Hey Lady! Good to see you. Thanks for sharing your regrets. I'm 11 months in now and wow has it been a ride! A little bumpy at times. I'm experiencing a few loc regrets of my own at this time. However, I am really trying to trust the process and not let negativity come in. I have had a love/hate relationship with my hair for 45 years... until I locd my hair October 10, 2021. I was sooo happy when I started out. Now I'm going through the shrinking and bunching stage and to say its an uncomfortable stage is an understatement. But I see my loc family members who are two, three, four, and five years in with these gorgeous locs, I know I gotta show my locs loving touches and throughts. So I smile and speak to each one of my 197 babies when I interlock and express gratefulness to this journey. Definitely learning a lot about self love and self acceptance. Best wishes to you as you gear up for your next year of medical school. 😍😀👍🏻

My biggest loc regret is combing out my first set. I had a ton of lint but I think I could have saved it or dyed it. My hair would be down my back now! (I have a length obsession, working on myself 😅). My next regret is making my microlocs smaller. My very first set of microlocs were around 200. I really had this certain number and "look" in my head so I went through and split my starter twists to make them smaller. Now I wish I had that larger size. The more locs you have, the more maintenance! And I got over that real quick lol.
@NapsAreTheNewBlack2 жыл бұрын
Yeah sometimes it is hard to appreciate what we have because we are chasing some ideal look (I also have a length obsession smh). All you can do is move forward and love your current set for what it is (and next time def just dye the lint haha).

My biggest loc regret is using a specific brand of hair dye. I didn't learn about its detrimental effects until after I had already used it. I was covering my gray hairs, and that dye is what I believe led to me experiencing breakage YEARS later.

I love your locs. You were definitely a favorite but as I continue to look at the variety of locs, I find them all to be beautiful! I saw a girl on KZbin ( I need to find her) whose locs were extraordinarily beautiful because of the different shapes and sizes. It was at that point that I decided to allow my locs (10mos in) to do what they do naturally without any manipulation. I don't want to palm roll to smooth them out or go so much for uniformity. It really is an individual thing. I say this to say, unless you know exactly the look you're going for, remain open and see where the journey takes you. Just listen to your hair, take care of it and be amazed by what it does naturally which is what makes us all unique! We're all beautiful and so is our hair...let's grow!!!

New subscriber here ! First of all you are absolutely stunning and have such a unique look … love it ! Now, I really love the that colour on you, it’s so complementary with your complexion but equally I know exactly what you mean about black hair too … its just right and matches with every colour in your wardrobe! 😆 I’m 13 months in micro loc’d and been tempted to colour mines but I know I’ll regret it a week later ! My biggest regrets about my sister locs is not realising the importance of getting the parting/sectioning right the first time ( yes I’m a DIY’er )! The interlocking gets difficult to do in certain parts and is a bit of disaster because of my lack of diligence in the first place ! 😩 Still love them and I still press on. ! Good luck with your journey beautiful lady x

My loc regrets not going bigger I have about 350 I wish I now had 200-300. Also, because of the texture of my curls I regret not starting with interlocs because I have a lot of bunching. Thankfully my loctician works on correcting the bunching on different locs each appointment. Also, I have always worn a satin cap and have a satin pillowcase and I still have locs with lint 😬. I’m going to convince my loctician to add lint dying to her services.

I sooooooooo appreciate this video. I am thinking about installing mini mini twist. Right now I have mini twist and I’m taking them down to retwist and I’m honestly tired of the constant takedown and retwist. It’s time to go ahead and do the interlock instead of take down and retwist. I have a question for you though. My minitwist loves loves loves when I daily smooth in my Paul Mitchell “The Conditioner” (leave in conditioner) on the ends of my hair. My curls pop pop pop and look so pretty and curly and soft. I kinda don’t like the boring ends that locs usually give so I opt to add so cute and curly pop in ends. Is there a problem with keeping my hair daily moisturized and they still loc? My goal is actually to put in mini mini twist with a great grid and interlock the roots from now on. Please share your thoughts.
