I think he can sing, it sounded like nerves to me or just strain on the vocal cords...I like to see performers a bit nervous as it makes the performance more intimate & shows they’re people (if you know what I mean, often they’re persona & the involvement of the press make them seem too polished & dictated, so celebs don’t even feel like real ppl anymore...if u know what I mean...). Put it’s def not good when the nerves affect the vocals although I feel like Normani gave him some “coaching” in being reassuring & lifting the performance up a few notches, especially with the dancing & different mixes with her dance & the guitar at the end.

Normani should have released her debut/first album a long time ago but it has been constantly delayed. She even tweeted that she had the title for it back in 2018 but till this day crickets. Bear in mind as well with her being a dark skinned black woman colorism in the industry works against her too. Many big industry insiders have come out and said how a lot of record execs don't want to push a dark skinned female artist. Another thing is I feel like they were trying to put her into a box of only making RnB music but she has said many times that she wants to do Pop as well. She even once tweeted that she refuses to be put in a box. Also a viral tweet exposed her team for turning down opportunities for her to collab with other artists at times cause the songs were "too Pop ". Even after Motivation and all the hype she got she barely got promotion and her team let the hype die down. Even her performance outfits are made last minute. Normani's mom once liked a tweet that said that someone or some people in the industry are trying to sabotage Normani's career. She hasn't released any solo song since Motivation (August 2019) and in 2020 only Diamonds ( with Megan thee Stallion) which was a movie soundtrack song. Hopefully her team gets it together cause that woman is too talented for it to go to waste like this.

I see people trying to defend in the comments but that nigga winded AF LOL Like dude said, that's why you appreciate the artists who can sing AND dance (Beyonce, Prince) and even those who don't have the best voice who know how to coordinate and perform (Britney Spears, Ciara). Performing and entertaining live ain't for everyone. And people are extra critical of alot of popular artists ignoring that they do have stage prescence. Normani is GOLD though in everything she does and saved this.
