The ONLY people saying that JJ McCarthy was going to be the Vikings starting QB is the media... and those who believed them. The Vikings NEVER said that JJ would be the starter. They didn't dismiss the possibility that he COULD start some games later in the season if absolutely necessary, but it was never the Vikings' intention to have a rookie starting at QB... period. He was to sit and learn the complex offensive system while Darnold served as a placeholder.

Offensive line seems to overall create nice pockets for him so that contributes a lot to his success. Needless to say it is great to see a player succeed after having such difficulty originally. This is good to see anywhere even beyond sports IMO.
