I really hate this narrative man. Mma fans are just so fickle. Usman went from being on the verge of breaking silvas record, number 1 pfp, and touted as an all time goat to losing 2 fights to an insanely good fighter in Leon, and in the first loss he was dominating for the most part and all of sudden knee problems which plagued usman even during the prime of his championship career are the problem and he’s apparently washed and aged 300 years. It’s just dumb imo. All that said I literally don’t even think a peak usman at 32 years old when he was the most feared guy at ww coming up could stuff all the tds of Chimaev. Costa isn't elite IMO. Talented and tough but not elite, not champion level. Khamzat would have absolutely tooled him with an immediate body lock to takedown to TKO or sub within the first round. I feel like what Guru is overlooking is that in the Leon trilogy Usman got his legs battered early which limited his movement/wrestling and Chimaev isn’t much of a kicker. Leon also grabbed the cage multiple times and Usman still managed to get him down.

Khamzat doesn't just need to kick Usmans knees, he can just hard knee him In the leg as soon as they clinch and that could neutralize Usmans wrestling alone. And since Usman couldn't outgrapple Leon after Leon targeted Usmans weak knees to mitigate his wrestler, I highly doubt he'll do the same to a better grappler In Khamzat (who's also the bigger guy). That and Usman probably don't often fight wrestlers that shoot bodylocks like Khamzat (Even when Colby shot a double leg on him, he was taken down), and since Leon got him down just by leg tripping him, I don't see a scenario where Khamzat doesn't do the same.

I think this will be more competitive than the Costa fight. Costa already lost to Vettori. He hasn't been the same fighter since getting wrecked by Adesanya. Ditto at Middleweight. Usman vs. Chimaev would have been great at 170, especially a few years ago. But now? And at Middleweight? For a TITLE SHOT? No thanks. DDP already earned that shot and Dolidze is a more interesting stylistic challenge IMO. Furthermore, these fights create the potential to seriously mess up the title picture at all divisions involved, especially Featherweight.
