Drawing a matrix really helps conceptually. Never quite thought about it this way!

It's talking about combinations for example getting 1,1 (2) is the same as 1,6/2,5/3,4/4,3,/5,2/6,1(7) so the chance of getting a specific combination is the same for all rolls, getting the total number is different.

Bummer about the "P(8) = 5/6" never being fixed to "P(8) = 5/36" that he meant to write. Still helpful video(s) in general. Love the grid!

Isn't p(8) = 5/36 and not 5/6?
@OPNURISYDER11 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure yet about 3 dice, but using 4 dice would be easy. Using 4 dice the probability of rolling any number would remain the same as if you only rolled 2 dice. To make it easy, draw 2 charts, just like the one Sal drew. With 2 dice, P(4) = 3/36 = 1/12. With 4 dice, P(4) = 6/72 = 1/12. Just count the number of 4's on both charts and divide by 72 (36+36). With 2 dice, P(8) = 5/36. With 4 dice P(8) = 10/72 = 5/36. Any even number of dice, the prob. will be the same as using 2 dice.

@sagaralpha ...umm, nope...its 5/36... 3,2 or 2,3 or 4,1 or 1,4 or 4,4....you can't divide the denominator by 6 without dividing the numerator by 6...so 5/6 is wrong
@TheRealBigPlayas9 жыл бұрын
Sal, you have 5/6 as the probability of getting an 8
@TheRealBigPlayas9 жыл бұрын
Fail. I was pointing something out. Not saying its 5/6. Come on I know this is math...but read a little.

Wow lol. In my comment I simply pointing out he had a typing error, which you failed to comprehend for whatever reason. Forget that, your comprehension skills are below par, where have a said or given lesson on 'how we read to people' or is this just one of those times where you fail to make your thoughts clear.

Oh my god, you are an idiot. When have ever said P(80= 5/6

mido3ido1 I'm just going to stop here, your stupidity is truly astonishing, especially seeing you are unable to answer my question. But hey, I'll let you leave being a bit more intelligent. The noun is idiocy, moron.

Lol, trying to avoid that you misread what I read and now trying to insult me lol. I'm glad you are learning though, you didn't say "idiotness" lmao

We can use the word chance when a system is significantly random, or we should be using the word equally probable always

Hi. How come you count the 2 & the 3 & then the 3 & the 2 etc. can't u say order doesn't matter and only count the unique combinations?

hey!! p(8) isn't 5/36!! it is 5/6!! you know what that means??? that means, a genius like you CAN make a mistake!! now i'll never....never ever feel shy when i make a mistake in future!!!!! rather i'd try to make myself better for the next!! take care :)

What if you have 3 or 4 or more dices, how do you do get the probability of a 4, 5 or 9 etc.? I'm a slow learner so, please, bear with me!
@anticorncob614 жыл бұрын
Those diagrams aren't always useful. I had to sit by this kid in class that I hate three times in a row. The chances of that happening is about 0.95%, which means I am pretty unlucky. Four times is 0.2%. I'll talk to my teacher if 3 turns into 4. I worked it out differently because there are 462 dfferent ways to sit 2 kids in my class like that and it would take forever to list the possibilities.

Great Videos!!! but you made a little mistake on the probability. You said it was P(8)= 5/6 when it should be 5/36. Good job overall

it's not probability of getting an eight or seven it's probability of getting a sum of eight or seven in the beginning I was like the dice has 7 faces :O XD
