I can't believe how much sense this is making to me now, after being utterly baffled by it back in college.

if my physics professor would ever turn around and talk to us, he might notice everyone is requiring a little explanation in the form you do, not just jousting with a white erase board like he's discussing things in a cern board room.

Suppose a trolley having an inclined frame the angle of inclination with respect to ground is 30 degrees. The trolley is moving on a straight and uniform road. Does the inclination of trolley’s frame can provide the advantage of gravity in our favor. The net weight on the axels of trolley is 100 kgs and is uniformly distributed.

First you are adding vectors improperly, which is why you ended up with a value greater than the original gravity value of 9.8 m/s2. Check up on adding vector quantities again. Second one of the directions is countered by the ground, just like when you are standing on the earth you dont accelerate. The direction parallel to the ground is the only direction it can go (it has no countering force), which is why this value is the one we use
@Aelfraed2613 жыл бұрын
Very good explanation. Once you understand this you can simply multiply g by the sine of the angle. 9.8*sin(30) = 4.9

Thank you soo much, I grinded with my book for an hour trying to decipher why they chose to randomly use sine and cosine for the components of gravity (they would give examples but no explanations ?) This got me working in just a couple of minutes.

The force keeping it in a static position would be friction, or the force acting in the opposite direction to that of the acceleration. It would have to be > or = to that of the force parallel to the plane.

I don't understand. If you split up the downward force of gravity into the perpendicular and parallel forces then wouldn't that be 49N perpendicular and 49N parallel? Because 49n + 49 sqrt of 3 = 98 sqrt 3 and that does not equal 98N for the Fg vector.
@drofeng2 жыл бұрын
Negative, the magnitude is 98N i.e. sqrt ( [49 * sqrt(3)]^2 + 49^2 ) = 98 N , regardless of what coordinate system you use.

ok so the acceleration is minus? or +ve? bcuz i know that a= g sin theta but sin 30 or whatever will always be +ve cuz it's

Can the normal force exerted by the inclined plane be broken into two different vectors like the force of gravity so that part of it will accelerate straight up and part parallel to the plane

@@drofeng I was a bit dumb of a dude back then, i know 9.8m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity. I just confused it with its antiderivative (position part) 4.9x^2
