The best video I have ever seen regarding pregnancy. You’re amazing thank you so much. I needed an answer of understanding when they say “implantation” and questioned “yeah but what does the blastocyst do once it’s embedded into my uterine wall. Now I have a clear understanding. Cheers

This is very interesting. Something we should all learn in school, but sadly don’t. It would be helpful to also know the timing of all these processes in terms of days in a woman’s cycle.

Human creation in Quran وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن طِينٖ We have created man from an extract of clay. (Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 12) ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُطۡفَةٗ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٖ Then We made him a sperm-drop in a firm resting place. Then We turned the sperm-drop into a clot, then We turned the clot into a fetus-lump, then We turned the fetus-lump into bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh; thereafter We developed it into another creature. So, glorious is Allah, the Best of the creators. (Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 14)

When the embryo is in the blastocyst stage, that usually marks the end of blastulation. The moment the blastocyst is implanted and burrows itself in the maternal endometrium, gastrulation is initiated, forming the three germ layers which will then differentiate into the different organs of an organism.

Very good - but I thought that it was the proliferating cytotrophoblasts which actually invaded (becoming the extravillous trophoblast)as opposed to the syncytiotrophoblasts. Anyone know for sure?
@kamelijahorvatovic3546
@kamelijahorvatovic3546 7 жыл бұрын
The syncitiotrophoblast is the outer layer of trophoblast and it is the one degrading the endometrium.
@tooncallens319
@tooncallens319 6 жыл бұрын
Turtle is right, the villi are formed from the cytotrophoblast that invades into the syncytiotrophoblast. But a lot of steps are not in this video, primary villi form on day 13 = almost very end of implantaion. By then, the amnion, chorion,... Are already formed.

You did a great job but it's not totally correct, you kind of put the wrong picture to some things. There was nothing about the formation of lacunae in syncitiotrophoblast, the actual primary vili are formed far after the uterine blood start flowing through lacunae and the uterine vessels don't actually grow or move like that, the syncitiotrophoblast is growing and producing proteolitic enzimes which degrade the vessel walls so the blood starts pouring into the lacunae. I know it is hard to draw it like that and everything and you did a really good job on everything else.
@tooncallens319

Actually, studies have shown that there is not a real circulation of maternal blood until third month of pregnancy. The lancunae are not filled with blood so early in pregnancy.

You're a parasite :D
@JoshMcKenna
@JoshMcKenna 8 жыл бұрын
+Linges Hels Interestingly, most of my professors and colleagues jokingly refer to developing embryos and fetuses as parasites. There are many types of implantation and placentation; humans develop hemochorial placentas, meaning the embryo completely destroys the maternal spiral arteries in order to form large blood pools (called lacunae) in which the fetal chorionic villi (leeching fingers of trophoblast tissue) float to obtain nutrients and oxygen from maternal blood. Various other species have less invasive placentation patterns such as syndesmochorial placentation, in which this kind of blood vessel destruction only occurs at some spots along the placenta rather than the entire fetal-maternal interface.
