Khandala Ghat in Lonavala is a famous and extensively used ghat road which provides a link between Mumbai and Pune and starts from Khopoli Khalapur area and provides some beautiful scenic places in mountains and waterfalls.

खंडाळ्याच्या घाटातून मी सगळ्या ऋतूत अनेक वेळा गेलो आहे. पण हा संपूर्ण घाट इतका सुंदर आहे हे मी प्रथमच या व्हिडिओतून बघितले. अगदी जपून ठेवण्यासारखा सुंदर व्हिडीओ. असेच सुंदर व्हिडीओ काढा, असेच नजारे तुम्हाला एर्नाकुलम बंगलोर रेल्वे मार्गावर त्रिसूर पासून कोइम्बत्तूर पर्यंत दिसतील. सकाळी ९ वाजता इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेसने जावे. अतिशय सुंदर अनुभव.

My uncle owned a rickety 1962 Fiat 1100. I have so many memories of the old ghat where just after seeking blessings of Shingroba, our trustworthy Fiat would stall on the very next hairpin. When my uncle's exemplary driving skills couldn't usually get it going hill start, it was upto us able bodied teen boys to ensure it didn't roll back to Khopoli. We must have moved every stone in that part trying to shore the car. If nothing worked it was sheer muscle power to try to push it uphill so that Mama could get it into gear and crank. Then the three of us had to jump into the sputtering piece of metal one by one. There was one time when we tied it to the back of a TN Anna's truck to be hauled all the way to a garage in Khandala. We had those experiences in every season imaginable, rain, hail or shine. Fuelled by hormones and youth every second was enjoyable even if we had to push that piece of metal in pouring rain at midnight for hours. Years later Mama once had to abandon the workhorse at a roadside garage on the Satara highway, we would see it rusting away for many years whenever we took that road until it vanished when the highway was widened and modernised. Today Aai, Baba, Mama and Mami are all gone. As far as us cousins, we're spread all over the world and talk to each other only on FaceTime. Fond memories remain. Thanks Gautam again for the trip down nostalgia lane.

thank you very much, yes indeed the old ghat road had lots of memories of many people, the roads were narrow then and the vehicle would have to chug along with lengthy jams. good to hear you got sweet nostalgia, i appreciate your views. your childhood memories of the ghat are amazing. the old ghat still remains and is in good condition and it is that ghat which brings the feel to go to lonavala unlike the expressway. do visit the ghat again in person to retrace the steps down the memory lane. it feels good :)

@@GautamKhetwal Yes I remember the traffic jams. There was one time I remember back in 1991. I took an evening Laldabba ST from Thane to Pune. The bus reached the Tata Power colony at about 6:30sh but then inched to Khandala PO at 02:30sh at night. I still remember the rain, humidity, diesel fumes, incessant honking and the occasional pearls of wisdom by stranded fellow passengers. Everyone had brilliant ideas about how to avoid traffic jams and complaining about driving habits of Indians etc. For me as a young man, I learnt a few things that night from all those wise people. I also decided that being a ST bus driver was not really a very good idea, after all it was my childhood dream. As a child I also dreamt that my dad worked at the Tata Power station, then we could have lived in that beautiful colony in the Ghats.

The mountain of waterfalls was breathtaking on the video, I can't even imagine what it's like being there in person. Can you hear the power of the falls or are they too far away? All the trees are emerald green, so beautiful. Thank you Gautam.

Excellent Videography.... The beauty of Bor Ghat in monsoons is truly mesmerizing...... But treacherous too, avoid traveling through this ghat unless absolutely necessary.. As for the tourism in Lonavala and Khandala on weekends during monsoons 😮 Watch out for the crowd 😮

Old Khandala ghat , I travelled many times by car and by motorcycle once all before 50 years. Beauty of nature and challenge to drivers. The Shingaroba temple is same as before. Very nice shooting. You could have added commentary .

हा नवीन घाट, आमची घाटात मकेनिक पॉईटला पोलीस वॅन रिवर्स दारीं गेली असती. आई एकविरेच्या कृपेनें रोडच्याकडेला टँकर पाणी टाकणेसाठी थांब्मला होता त्याला जाऊन टेकली नाहीतर आम्ही सर्व नस्वप्रविठ 35/शिपाई सह गाडी दरीत गेली असती सन 1983 ला

एकविरा आईने तुम्हा सर्वांना वाचवले. पूर्वी घाट लहान व खडी असल्याने धोकादायक होता. आता घाट मोठा आहे. 1983 मध्ये घाट लहान आणि घनदाट होता :)
