Loved this video Darren. It's nice to see how most of the folks speak to you like a local and don't point out do much anymore about you being a foreigner. Everyone was so eager to help and interact with you. I see why you live in that area. I noticed that Amanda is really getting personality now. I hope you all have a great weekend!! Hugs to you all 😃

Hi Darren, my dad was quite happy when we discovered your channel as he has been fascinated by Thailand since his last stay there. He was super excited to point out the places he has been, shown in your videos. He didn’t keep up with documenting his trip, which made it hard for him to share most of his stories. Thanks for making that possible now. Would you mind sharing what kind of camera you use to get such nice shots?
@darrenb36 жыл бұрын
You're welcome Lena :) The camera I use is a Canon 80D and the lenses I use are a Canon 15-85mm and a Canon 70-200mm.

@darrenb34 жыл бұрын
No one thing in particular, it's impossible to pin it down to one. Try as much as you can is my recommendation. Here are some suggestions for the best street foods in Thailand, you should be able to find all of them at this market: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4Gke5eXhKaraqc

Thanks Ross! Thailand has strict laws on the promotion of alcohol, and the interpretation of promotion is fairly broad, so I don't drink in my videos. You be safe too :)

Hi Darren Great as usual.do you ever have stomach troubles with the food. I enjoy it but I have had a couple of bad experiences.
@darrenb36 жыл бұрын
Generally no, but I'm careful with what I eat. If I buy chicken and it is not cooked all the way through I will either microwave it for a few minutes, or bin it, depending on where I am. If the food doesn't taste right, or smells weird I bin it. Last night at a restaurant they gave us our plates and they were not fully dry. I dried them thoroughly with the tissues provided on the table before using the plates. I always check my plates and cutlery to make sure they are dry before using them. If a vendor/restaurant doesn't look clean I won't eat there. I did have an issue with some street food I bought a few months ago. After I took it home I left it on the cupboard for around 6 hours then put it in the fridge for 4 days. After the 4 days I microwaved it and had stomach issues about 6 hours later. That wasn't the food's fault, that was irresponsible food handling. I know a few people (about 6) who have got sick while visiting here and they all believe it was from their hotel restaurants. I eat what the locals eat and that seems to work for me. If you do have issues my recommendation is to get to a pharmacy or doctor as soon as possible. I've seen people who leave it too long and then spend the rest of their holiday feeling terrible.

Another good one mate, what would your favourite local market be closer to Ao Nang that doesn't get lots of tourists about ? Regards
@darrenb36 жыл бұрын
Probably my favourite local market in Ao Nang would be the Wednesday market. You do get some tourists there, but it's where the locals go to shop. Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/844vHgwtsVQ2

The Sunday morning one we did out that way in Neua Klong, is great, it's huge and I don't think you'd see any white faces there. Best get there at about 7am I think if you don't want to miss the action. Google Maps : goo.gl/maps/kSAEjfZzCd12 The other one we went to out that way recently at a temple in Krabi Noi is also good. Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/cnF9xphhL5x Every Thursday and Saturday from 3pm till 6pm.

Actually Takuapa town also has walking street market, very nice authentic local foods & desserts..very interesting & tasty! But they will open during high season or now on Saturday late afternoon.

Yes, we didn't make it to the Takua Pa Walking Street this trip, hopefully we will next time. I believe it opens Sunday afternoons.

Hi darren coming to Phuket in july 2019. Can you advise where to stay coming with family kids want a beach front hotel any suggestions
@darrenb36 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I know nothing about beach front hotels in Phuket. I believe they exist, but from what I've seen most hotels have a road between them and the beach in Phuket. I'd recommend having a look on agoda.com, that's the site I use for booking accommodation. I hope that helps.

Hi Darren. Tourism = high fish prices. Who would have thought. lol That's why I shop where the locals go in Thailand. Sounds like Krabi is better value but that market had an impressive variety of food. How long does it take you to drive there?
@darrenb36 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true Doug, everything is more expensive in the touristy areas, including rent, so they really can't sell for the same prices as at local places. It took us about two and a half hours to get there from home.
@akung946025 жыл бұрын
A lot of people making these videos are sponsored by the restaurant. I think you need to pay for the food so you can give an honest opinion. Some youtubers have over 1-2 million subscribers and only care about making money from KZbin. I only care about your honest opinion, your doing a great job!

This market is more expensive. Definitely tourist prices. A piece of roast chicken for 60 baht!? In UK you can get a similar piece for ~ 25 Baht.

Wow, quarter of a chicken for 25 baht? That is cheap! I think the cheapest I've seen it for as a street food in Thailand is 40 baht.
@LukieEl6 жыл бұрын
@@darrenb3 Not a quarter just a piece i.e. a drumstick or a thigh. I thought that was a piece of chicken you bought. At todays exchange rate. If you go to UK Tesco you can get a piece roast chicken around 50p
