I grew up with this being played in the house. My sister - an avid pianist - was constantly practicing this piece on the boudoir grand in the lounge. Day in, day out. I have no musical talent, but know this by heart. I've never heard it played so magnificently.

I almost didn’t like this performance, until I contemplated, in the true spirit of Liszt, this is all about spontaneity and and the mastery of spontaneity. Then I came to the conclusion, Liszt would be delighted with this performance.

Came for the dress, stayed for the playing, one of the most brilliant musicians on the planet. I find all the thirsty men with conservative tastes on here hilarious, but I will admit that she's amazing-- indeed, way way under-appreciated because of her musical genre. I think she figured something out about how elite pop stars present themselves, and folded that right back into classical music. I’ve had a few students trust me enough to say they first discovered KB because of her stunning good looks, but were quickly captivated by how compelling of a performer she is. I laughed, because deep down I knew that the same applies to me. Although she is known for doing works of intense virtuosity like Liszt or Rachmaninov, she also knows how to play pieces of great simplicity and subtlety with grace and spaciousness. For instance Pari Intervallo by Arvo Pärt or the Schubert impromptu number 3.

Khatia, you are one of the world's greatest pianists. Brava! You are a goddess of the ivories. ONe can see and hear how you feel every note and the space between notes, moving onwards courageously through each piece, which is something perhaps pianists are taught not to do. YOur playing seems to come from some sublime universe summoning all that mind and heart can offer. YOu come from a country replete with cultural masters of film and art, Kalatozov, “Rezo”, Abuladze, Mikheil Chiaureli that portray a unique, earthen point-of-view. Clearly you are a world cultural treasure that will shine evermore.

Brought back memories of Texaco Star Theater (Milton Berle) TV show in the early 50s. At commercials, three guys in gas station uniforms, came out and sang “Sky Chief.
