Khatti Daal
Serves 5-6
Recipe in English:
Ingredients:
-Pani (Water) 2-3 Cups or as required
-Lal mirch powder (Red chili powder) 1 tsp or to taste
-Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ½ tsp
-Namak (Salt) 1 tsp or to taste
-Adrak lehsan paste (Ginger garlic paste) 1 tsp
-Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) 1-2 tbs
-Hari mirch (Green chillies) 2
-Mong daal (Yellow lentil gram) 1/4 Cup (soaked for 10-15 minutes)
-Masoor daal (Orange lentil gram) 3/4 Cup (soaked for 10-15 minutes)
-Tamatar (Tomatoes) cubes 2 medium
-Imli pulp (Tamarind pulp) ½ Cup
-Cooking oil 3-4 tbs
-Sabut lal mirch (Button red chillies) 4-5
-Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tbs
-Kari pata (Curry leaves) 15-20
Directions:
-In pot,add water,red chili powder,turmeric powder,salt,ginger garlic paste,fresh coriander,green chili, yellow lentil gram,orange lentil gram,tomatoes,mix well and bring it to boil.
-Cover partially and cook on low flame for 20-25 minutes or until tender then blend well with the help of the blender.
-Add tamarind pulp,mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes.
-In frying pan,add cooking oil,button red chillies and mix.
-Add cumin seeds,curry leaves and fry for 30 seconds.
-Now pour tadka in daal & serve!

Ajza:

-Kari pata (Curry leaves) 15-20
Directions:
-Pot mein pani,lal mirch powder,haldee powder,namak,adrak lehsan paste,hara dhania,hari mirch,mong daal,masoor daal aur tamatar dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur ubal anay dein.
-Partially dhak dein aur halki ancch per 20-25 minutes ya daal gul janay tak paka lein phir hand blender ki madad sa ache tarhan blend ker lein.
-Imli pulp dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur 4-5 minutes kliya paka lein.
-Frying pan mein cooking oil aur sabut lal mirch dal ker mix karein.
-Zeera aur kari pata dal ker 30 seconds kliya fry ker lein.
-Daal per tadka dal ker serve karein.

In the Tadka or Bagaar Must must must add fresh garlic 3 to 4 ...... Daal with out Lehson ki poti is not complete. ...... The aroma of fried Lehson is next level.... Thank you. I love food fusion

I tried this today. Just added lesan in my tarka. But this method was DELICIOUS! I always make khatti daal but this recipe is amazing as well! I write this specially for all the people critiquing food fusions method! Everyone makes everything differently. One should try it before criticizing.

Aaj bnai hai with a lil change...i didn't use hand blender i cooked in cooker....n added garlic in tarka. It is soooo yummy.

But we don't blend dal we mash it with dal ghotni n that's the original taste

You can absolutely use an immersion blender to ghotofy the daal. It has nothing to do with the taste. Dal ghotni physically demanding hoti hai istemaal karna and if you are regularly cooking in the kitchen, there is no need to give yourself tennis elbow from ghotofying daal. Use an immersion blender on gentle setting for a little amount of time to get the same effect. Faaltu main kitchen main zindagi mushkil bana nay ki kya zaroorat hai?

Y 6 dislikes... Recipes ko b dislike Dena yeh kaunsi logic hai bhai... Awesome.. A new thing I learned Y bcz we in Hyderabad we prepare dal just with toor dal..rest process is same.. ND meethi dal in breakfast with moong dal.. In tadka we use garlic.. No dal is complete without garlic tadka😋

That and garlic should only be added at tadka not during the time of boiling. Otherwise garlic and turmerics' raw flavour is not suitable for dal.. that's 1 dislike from me

Giving tadka with ghee instead of oil will give you fabulous flavour and you can just use 2tsps of ghee.

Ap khatti daal k dono version mix kar diye... as I'm a pure Hyderabadan and I knw tht it's a fusion version of khatti daal not the original one 1) usually sirf masoor daal se banti inhain (but chalo it's ok if used both, chal jata hai) 2) orignally tomato wali khatti daal alag banti .. and imli k pulp k sath alag bcz dono ka taste kafi different ata hai... tomato gives a very mild khata sa flavour almost na k barbar and imli k sath it gives u tht typical khata flavour jo speciality hai Hyderabadi khanon ki. 3) hara dhaniya Hari mirch boil kartey time nahi add kiya jata na sath grind kiya jata hai... NEVER.. never.. 4) daal ko grind nahi kartey itna paste form mein.. just ghot'tey tu us mein kuch mash ho jati kuch Zara sabut rehna... woh sahi texture hai us ka 5) after grinding the daal and jab khata add kartey thn pani daal k usey kuch dair k wastey pakny dena hota, takey khata pak jaye kacha flavour na tu bhi aye and at tht time Kari patta sath dalty us mein.. which gives it a very NYC flavour..

Bcos of imli plup added the dal should be little bit thinner its too thick for rice .while bolilng for good texture should add curry leaves
