Just watched the movie. At first I thought the concept of the movie was going to be something really overwhelming and close to reality but alas. The zest the movie tried to pull out by vilainizing India that we (east and west Pakistanis) were in really good terms before the 1971 war. Which is really funny because the brutal reality was that bangalees were suppressed for more than two decades by West Pakistani rulers and whenever they raised their voice against the discriminations, they sacrificed lives. Imagine living in a state where you're forbidden to speak your own mother tongue. We were forever two different lands with a distance of 2200 kilometers. The discriminations created by Pakistani leaders in legit every step of life between west and east Pakistanis would never let us bangalees live in peace. We sacrificed 3 million lives to finally get peace. Even till today when I listen to my grandmother talking about the mass genocide on 25th march, 1971, I get goosebumps and feel nothing but disgusting hatred towards Pakistan. We're very proud of our much awaited independence and we're happy to continue living our life as we want by practicing our own culture and identity as a free nation.

What you are saying is right to some extent but please do take into consideration that from first hand accounts Mukti Bahini and Indian infliltrators in East Pakistan had started target killing of West Pakistanis since 1969 .. It used to be very common that a bus would be stopped by Multi Bahini terrorists and West Pakistani passengers would be killed There were countless such accounts .. What happened on 25 March 1971 was not right but terror outfits killing citizen, conspiring with enemy and open call for succession was also not the right approach by traitor Sheikh Mujeeb ! For you he may be yr father of nation, but for us he ll always remain a traitor who conspired with the enemy against his own country .. a country for which he fought together in 1947 ! 1971 was a tragedy and should never have happened .. best scenario was to have a federation with common military, foreign office, currency

Operation searchlight was the codename for planned military operation carried out by the west Pakistan (now Pakistan) army to curb the Bangali's Nationalist movement in former east Pakistan (current Bangladesh) in 25th march 1971..... The purpose of this operation was to arrest or kill the distinguished Awami League leaders, student leaders and Bangali intellectuals in the main cities of the then East Pakistan including Dhaka, to disarm the Bangali personnels of military, para military and police forces and to capture armoury, radio station and telephone exchange, thereby to take over the control of the province of East Pakistan by ruthlessly curbing the non-cooperation movement headed by Bangabandhu sheikh mujibur rahman. Military operations were being taken under 'Operation Searchlight' on and from 11-30 pm of 25 March to middle of May in all the big towns of the province.
