Because a few folks have asked, you can pick these up over at KHHI's aka Khukuri House Nepal website. The issue Kukris are listed under the "Ghurkas_Standard_Issue_New" section. Note that the blessing service (as well as accompanying scarves and CD) are an optional extra charge and special request, as is the wood stand. The Kukris are shipped with a certificate of authenticity, a small, multi-page pamphlet on the history of the Ghurkas and their kukri, a catalog and a small card with the bio of the Kami (maker) who made the knife (all the blades are stamped with the Kami's mark). One other thing I failed to mention, they have depots on several continents that maintain a limited selection, so there's a chance you can cut a few weeks out of your shipping time. Hope this doesn't sound like an advertisement (it's not!), but I'm really very impressed and suitably pleased by the product and service I received. If you have even a passing interest, even with no intention to buy, KHHI's site has a ton of good info on the history and making process of these historically significant and well crafted knives. - Jay

Love the khukhuri, and have known about KHHI for a long time, but have never purchased from them. How are they holding up, and have you used them a lot?

I have two Kukris from the same Kukri House. got them several years ago. I had them put my initials and date on them. Also of Buffalo horn grips. They are fantastic tools / Knives. The first thing I did was go in the back yard and lop off a tree limb. Mine are made of heavy-duty truck leaf springs. I highly recommend them. will last several lifetimes if cared for properly. keep a bit of oil on them.

Nice video, interesting to see the blessing. I have two KHHI knives, a Jungle Panawal (full tang) and a McCurdy. As a life long collector of knives, I consider them to be superb for either display or taking into the bush. KHHI can also do custom builds either based on their existing designs, or a fully original based on what you want to have them do, and at very reasonable cost.

They are intended to be front heavy so the forward weight does the work . You got two very good blades and KHHI is one of the very best in Nepal. 1 last thing in the future try not to touch the blade with your hands of fingers, especially with out wiping it off because over time it affects the High Carbon Spring Steel and can rust it when stored away. So always at least wipe them off after handling. Take care

Very nice kukris, congratulations. I plan n ordering a couple of their Panawal (full tang) kukri soon, still narrowing down which models I want most. How long did it take, from placing the order to receiving it?

These knives are standard issue to the British Gurkha Infantrymen. The world's best Infantrymen in the world in my opinion. The British first fought them and defeated them with very high casualties in the early 1800s. British soldiers were not used to being ambushed or fight in close quarters which made their bayonets on their Brown Bess muskets really ineffective. Many British soldiers were hacked to pieces after they fired their muskets. After defeating them and over running the Kingdom of Nepal. The British decided to do the smartest thing any empire in the world would do. Give the Nepalese Gurkha Kings and Princes semi-autonomous rule because Nepal had no real resources to exploit. The only best thing Nepal could have were it's men. Fearless warriors who can be of use to the British Empire. These Gurkha men love combat. They love killing their enemies. Ever since in British military service in the early 1800s, these men were selectively recruited and they had to prove to their British Army recruiters that they are the best through the worst physical selection in the world designed by the Gurkha soldiers themselves. This still goes on today. In selection hundreds of young men between the ages of 17-21 years of age and no older. In my opinion their selection course just to pass to go to Basic Training is very brutal. From a couple hundred young candidates only very few like 75 or less are chosen for their academic and foremost their physical abilities. No modern Western European or American would go to such physical selection and survive just to be selected. Their combat record is outstanding. Their enemies respected them. Even the brutal Japanese army gave them respect in combat but killed them because they are still dangerous when alive. I own the WWII version which is the MK II and keep it in my truck for emergencies and road trip camping. Owning this knife is a tribute to the world's best infantrymen.

I mean, we all know how much of a fight the Nepalese put up but I think you're going a bit far. Bayonet fighting was still an expected and integral part of linear warfare which still dominated that era. To say they weren't used to close quarters just wouldn't be realistic. And one really "gets used" to being ambushed. It's pretty much the point of an ambush to set it up in your own favor and when your enemy isn't on their guard. Being a colonial power, I'm pretty sure they knew very well to expect ambush tactics as most forces would through human history.

KHHI has a good tutorial on their site. Basically swing at an angle (around 70-75 degrees) from the top and bottom. I used this method on some small trees in the overgrowth on the side of our house and it was very effective. I was impressed enough that I ordered a sirupate for grassier brush. - Jay

Exactly which website did you order from? There are several websites all claiming to be KHHI, I’ve bought from them when in Nepal and these look like the ones from KHHI not one of the ripoffs, I’m curious as to what the website was as I need another one.

Really? That's weird. I had to get 5 pages deep to get a website that WASN'T KHHI on a Google search. I put the exact search terms in the pinned comment to pull it up. I'd post a direct link but KZbin is very cagey about that with gun channels. - Jay

Looked at the sellers site. Can you respond with what you oderes. I am trying to duplicate your order. Just the knife specifics. Would not mind getting a longer blade but as of typing this I don't know the military standard length. Why do I watch your videos. You always have cool stuff I want.

Cool can I buy one without the "blessing?"
@MishacoOBA
@MishacoOBA 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The blessing is an extra service you have to request separately. Depending on your country, there's a chance they have a "depot" or warehouse that'll ship (a small selection) a lot sooner than from Nepal. Shipping from a domestic depot precludes any extra options they do in house, like the blessing, engraving, etc.- Jay
