The abandoned mode is totally made for me. I will never play this game any other way from now on. I´m just in it to explore and search for amazing landscapes to "photograph" as that is my thing since 2016 so i´m super happy not having to deal with any -gameplay- npc stuff forever now. Also relic worlds is totally what i always wanted because i think this game has a great potential to have some sort of archeological adventure feel. I´m hoping to see some ruins inside a cavern or something as that would give more purpose to the caverns too.

I would actually love a new combat system and missions to go with it. I think it would only make the game Better to have co-op ships especially with missions where you can fly and a friend can shoot almost like star wars i guess 😂 but it think itll help the co op experience to be able to be in a ship together and travel together.

We really need a combat overhaul or stakes that pertains to combat. Even Minecraft got zombies at night. All the exploring, mining and upgrading for what? We need a starship trooper type planet where you need to defend your base tower defense style. We need bigger and deadlier space pirates and space battle. We need antagonistic factions that hunts you. We need a point for all the exploring, mining and upgrading.

I've been resisting the urge to get back to No Man's Sky after so many updates last year because I'm waiting for exactly that. NMS is amazing but everything you do after some times feel empty. We need combat that is more compelling, quests and events.

I kind of disagree… NMS was never meant to be a space combat game like Elite or EVE. It wants to appeal to a much broader audience, so it has to be a bit more shallow in it’s gameplay loops, the combat is fine though. Think of a Stardew Valley in Space. However, the late game suffers because the shallowness. I think more „dangers“ in space, like ion storms, comets with rare minerals which fly through space with high speed to land on or sun flares, weather that actually damage the ship or messing with the engines/tech, even things like ship-napping (escape from a Pirat dreadhnought or sentinel prison) I’m a huge Star Trek and they had endless adventures without blazing guns. We have a lot of assets in the game already (generation ship, comm station etc.) which are basically unused. If those could be entered like the derelict freighters, but via space walk and the right tools to open the hull. NMS lacks of consequences to be challenging.

I would assume the expedition would be next week, the new mission appears to require you have finished Atlas and Autophage. Then it pops when you are in system warping.

I'm still here waiting on a combat system. Maybe something like random gen combat dungeons, and hostile AI civilizations/stations. Honestly, that's what's keeping me from getting too into the game and sinking a ton of time. It just gets boring after a while without challenges. There's space combat, but its kinda basic and repetitive, and just not that fun. It FEELS like a side mechanic. Taking out pirate/bandit settlements, or rng dungeons, and going to hostile stations that you can clear and take over would be sick. The game NEEDS that, because good combat is a task that is simple. It can be repetitive and still be fun, because situations always play out differently, and good combat is just fun even if repetitive. The game just has SO much now, but it still feels shallow like you just walk around and look at things. I keep being surprised every time we have one of these big updates, and no combat overhauls/additions. I've been thinking it has been close to coming for years now, and never has. I feel like its such a glaring omission now, especially with all the enhancements elsewhere. It really makes the poor combat stick out like a sore thumb. It's a whole inhabited galaxy, SURELY there would be plenty of combat

most new stuff will be in purple systems. Oceans are better in yellow / red / green / blue but only as deep as they always were. So the really deep are probably all going to be in purple systems as far as I've seen so far.

I've been playing today for hours and haven't seen anything new. No gas giants, no new terrain gen, no new oceans or ocean creatures, nothing. The only thing I've noticed is the new lighting. I'm very confused. Is this update not out yet or is something wrong with my game?

gas giants are late game, you need atlantid warp drive and those (purple systems) as far as I can tell don't even show on the map without that drive installed in your ship. So work on completing atlas story as well as autophage story lines. Also more of the weird stuff is in red / green / or blue systems If you go to yellow systems it doesn't appear to be much of a change with those, some but not much.

Shawn said once that: when they tested Multi biome planets, it hurt exploration, since ppl would find that one planet with everything and never leave. Thats something we will only see in Light no fire, since thats only one planet to explore

I think there could be some work around like not having a planet with every biome but biom quantity limits like three to four per planet. And having so much biome that the number of combination would render that argument irrelevant.

A planet might be radioactive, but it may have mountain regions in one side that have snow, a lush forest where the radiation dies down slightly Don't put everything in one planet, of course, but I think they can be more adventurous with combining certain elements of each biome onto a main planetary climate

Well, the updates generally just affect the whole universe, they aren’t gated by money or anything typically. In particular for this update, a large amount of it is in terrain generation and rendering, so it’s basically all around you. However, for the new Purple systems, you will likely need to do a later game quest, as they require a unique drive upgrade to reach. For how to reach that, really just play through the game doing the main quest, should be a red diamond with an eclipse-like icon. Eventually you should get access to the required quest. If you have other questions, just ask! People here are happy to help. :)

Should also mention, this update has a bit of end-game oriented content. Specifically, the gas giant planets are intended to be much more dangerous and difficult to explore, hence why they only spawn in purple systems which are unlocked later into the game.

A whole lot of nothing.... None of these "updates" add any fun content. No reason to build bases, no fun end game, yada yada. No Man's Sky gets boring way too fast, because it's incredibly huge but sadly, incredibly shallow despite the constant visual updates. their promo videos looks awesome but its so cherry picked its not even funny, playing the actual game and its to 85% nowhere near looking that great. Also its disappointing how little they care about stuff that matters, like combat, would've been fine with how it looked 5 years ago but just great combat with humanoid enemies on planets, fun missions, maybe being hunted by bounty hunters etc. so much cool stuff they could do and i bet it's less effort than much else they do.
