Please explain how one plays this game for thousands of hours... i've had it since day one and struggle to play it over 20 hours in a month... it still feels so empty, planets still feel so flat... NPC's still feel like generic samey cardboard cutouts. Combat is far too easy and exploitable and planets are bland and samey. Base building is pointless and money is worthless as its so easy to become a billionaire. Everyone says the game is "good" but its really really boring. Creature generation is still utter garbage and every planet is made up of the same fucking creatures most of the time. The nautillon is literally the most useless fucking thing in the world because due to the planets flatness the "ocean" is incredibly shallow.

@@jacobely6826 HG uses probability density functions to control the combinations that occur in creature/biome creation. Because of this, many things that fall near the "middle of the curve" occur frequently. But there are exceedingly rare combinations that can occur also. I love searching for ultra rare creatures and planets. I'll give you an example. I found a planet whose surface was about half water and half land. It was a radioactive biome. But the surface structure was something like a sponge with interlocking water-filled and half water-filled tunnels going under the land. In the water there were swimming quadrupeds. I have something like 500 planets for which I've found all fauna and countless more which I didn't finish. I have found dozens of diplos (giant and small) as well as many mushroom beetles. (Google those if you don't know what they are; they're pretty rare.) I also do base building. I have something like 40 bases including: One that is like a massive tree-house complex set in a megaflora planet with giant colored living spikes which rotate colors. It's psycedelic as hell. It is also pretty hell-like in it's weather. I have another base where I created a 3-D maze out of staircases and other assets at strange angles going all different directions inside a giant hollow cylindrical geographic feature. It is connected to the main base a half kilometer away, a large farm, via nested teleporters. I'm also a completionist. I have all items from the quicksilver shop and everything else in the game. I have min/maxed (to a reasonable degree) my ships: my explorer has a warp range of 3253. I have bases in multiple galaxies as well as in extreme points in Euclid over a million light years from the core. I have completely mapped named regions of Euclid. (Two anyway.) My discovery list is so long that for every new discovery, system or creature, an old one gets purged from the bottom of my list. I have two accounts, one on GOG and one on Steam. I maintained my access to my day 1 planet (on GoG) and have bases there currently on both accounts. I have multiple saves including normal and permadeath and have all achievements (duh) on Steam. I have never died in my normal save and never died in a permadeath game. (Combat isn't the issue; it's doing stupid shit. I died once in my main GOG save after an update when something was changed that I wasn't expecting.) For a challenge I played survival without a HUD back when you spawned a 12-15 minute walk from your starter ship. I died a lot doing that. Try it sometime if you think the game is easy. Start a game on permadeath or survival and turn off your HUD in game settings and try to make it to your ship and fix it without knowing the direction. It's easier now than it was before because you spawn way closer to your starting ship. There are some tricks to use. Can you figure them out on your own? I play socially. My roommate plays, but he's a damn casual with only about 800 hours played. I also explored with people from the Deep Though Collective (an early group started on discord for the purpose of exploring game lore and finding out if portals could be activated before Atlas Rises: we were added to the game lore in missions from space stations-- one or more of the missions is from the "Deep Thought Collective". ) I have an underwater base on the capitol of the Galactic Hub. (Had one at the original Hub location as well.) So what am I still doing? Well, my frigate fleet isn't quite full yet. I need seven more frigates to complete it, but I won't settle for just any frigates; I have particular specs I'm looking for. I plan to setting up a race track on a low gravity planet as soon as I find one with the right land forms. (Jumps will play a big part in the race track.) I also have been spending time recently touring other peoples amazing bases. The creativity and art of some of people's bases is a joy to behold. Sometimes I like to turn on multiplayer and help new players out-- but not too much: I don't hand out mega unit items or cheesy stuff like that. Besides, as you say, units are easy to come by. Same is true of nanites, if you know what you are doing. I just give some tips or help people find what they are looking for or trying to accomplish. I have yet to complete all the recipes that can be cooked; I have done about half. I keep a stacks of meat stew and doughnuts on me to augment planetary travel on foot. I might take up the project of setting up a base in every galaxy. I haven't done that yet. But mostly I love to just chill out and explore looking for ultra-rare planets and animals. They exist, but you wont find them without some work. Back when the game had just dropped, I know the accusation that the game had no butterflies was wrong because I had found some. The same was true of a few of the other "missing features". I play mostly flat screen but I also play in VR when the mood strikes. In VR the game is just breathtaking, particularly some locations! You see, the thing about this game is that it's really a sandbox where you make up your own challenges and goals, while enjoying the pretty settings. That's not for everyone, though.

Hey, did you know you can move your primary modules now, like life support, jet pack and shields. You can move that jetpack over to the rest of its upgrades to fully optimise it now. No more life support blocking it from upgrades.

Another nice vid but I've tried many locations and I'll try again but it looks the Livestock units don't work when you are not in close proximity. I go to another base... I come back and there are animals all around, the feeders are empty and the livestock feeder is also empty or only contains what was there when I last left after filling up the auto feeders. So that probably need some fix and it would be nice if the Auto feeder could contain much more bait ! (or work longer on the same amount :)

Lol. I personally never ride those. I ride the larger creatures cuase you sit up hire. Riding is also a great way to get around and find nodes. Especially if you are on a lush safe planet. Otherwise I would use the exosuit. But I allways look for nodes on lush safe planets and tame animals to ride while doing it. It's just a shame I can't keep them. I mean it's not like you can't find the same thing cuase the species look identical, it's just you can't corral creatures in this game cuase they randomly generate. So they will disappear when you go too far away.

I've got 10 Bio Domes growing Fungal Moulds. I refine Faeceum into Mordite. I craft Acid using Fungal 600 & Mordite 25. I can sell 1 Acid for nearly 200'000 units. Just make sure you have all your Domes wired n powered up with Solar Panels & Batteries ;o)

I tamed a creature that only appears as a moving geyser. I don't have an interact option. But there is an icon I can't make out. My assumption is that it acts as a boost to your jump... But, this planet has the crazy storms that make you jump higher anyway... sooo, any idea what that is?

Can you do a power tutorial. I have wires running all they my building everywhere it’s a mess. Then my sensor door won’t open when I have it power. Is there like wireless power? I found an anomalous Planet with an anomalous animal, that has a bait. I setup a farm for that animal, it comes up to eat, it has a smiley face, but the extractor isn't doing anything. I assume there is a multi-hour waiting period before the animals actually get harvested, yes?

Why would my character take up cooking when it doesn't appear to even eat? I'm even playing survival, but all I do is charge my O2 and keep up my environmental protections. He doesn't appear to need food. I've used food items in place of Oxygen, but it's not necessary at all.

Its a pain if you don't have the ingredients for a creatures favorite bait on you right there and then though. Because for no conceivably logical reason, the creatures entry on the discovery page doesn't list it's preferred bait after it's been scanned. So if you don't remember, or it's not right in front of you so you can rescan it to find out what it wants, the only thing you can do is run around after getting the ingredients, and try to find that creature type again. Not too bad for extremely common animals (and your carrying the nutrient processor around with you) but with rare creatures, it's a pain.

Theshizlenizle I haven’t even realized or looked at that yet. If you’re trying to make it bigger just so you know it actually gives you the same amount as if it was normal sized, it just takes out bigger chunks so you are actually wasting a lot of the metal by going big on the terrain manipulator.
