Kruschev May have been a “revisionist” or whatever, but the fact is that basic policies he encouraged such as providing massive housing for people did a tremendous amount to improve the lives of Soviet citizens. Still an excellent shitpost.

Might be seeing things, but tbh I just looked up hungarian revolution. BTW, saw your post on the Pierre drama, and forgot to give you a response. I feel like I owe you that much. NO, I do not support human trafficking, but to state that all sex workers are victims of this sort of thing dismisses the acts of other sex workers such as porn actors, prostitutes who are paid legal wages in brothels etc, and people who submit photos in exchange for cash. I don't think making sex work illegal is going to help anyone in that case, as it does lead to the very black market human trafficking bullshit that we see today. I think this article pretty much articulates my thoughts on the manner. I support sex workers if they want to continue doing what they do, and if they want to stop and leave, I whole heartedly support that too. @@batko6362 Of course, perhaps not every sex worker is a slave, but the vast majority are either victims of human trafficking, or are so down on their luck that they are forced into demeaning work because nothing else is available. The exception for this would be some porn actors, however even then there are some pretty horrible conditions many have to go through. I don't think that this group of voluntary sex workers that you are espousing the rights of really exist, and while I agree that, in theory, it would be best to have a free system where you can come or go as you please, in reality sex work will always prey on the vulnerable in society because, let's be honest, if you could be doing any other type of work to pay the rent, you would be. Of course, keeping it illegal would hurt, or at least inconvenience, that small minority of willing sex workers, however legalising it would give much more freedom to slavers and pimps who abuse these vulnerable women to continue doing what they are doing. Of course, the way the law deals with sex workers can be improved, for example by not punishing prostitutes but rather those who organise the prostitution and by supporting vulnerable families and cracking down on modern slavery, but I do not think that legalising it would be beneficial either to the sex workers themselves or to society in general.

Khrushchev did nothing wrong. Reforms were needed, the purges were a mistake and the gulags were no longer necessary nor useful. The Hungarians deserved worse, the repression was completely justified as without it the Eastern Bloc would have collapsed.
