Has someone hurt you in the past and you don't know how or even if you should respond? Well, the believer does not respond to evil by doing another evil thing back to another person. Indeed Allah is the most generous and you will be rewarded for your patience!

We need more advice on how to deal with family members who abuse you this is even more common than friends abusing you. We need to know how to deal with that. A lot of time people mention the rights of family but what about if family violate your rights beyond repair? I wish this was a topic that would be discussed more often.

Agreed. This is a big issue that keeps being thrown under the rug and not addressed properly. You need to take care of yourself and put boundaries. Self-preservation is not selfish.

One of the best khutbas i've heard on how to react when being wronged. Way too many times, we are told just to be patient and turn the other cheek. Depending on the situation, you are offered different approaches. The most difficult thing is to be discerning enough to know how to respond appropriately. Unfortunately, at times, the best option is to push back the wrongdoer and give them a taste of their own medicine. May Allah have mercy on us all.

There's this term called deterrence, usually mentioned in the context of nuclear weapons. It gives you an advantage and a leverage until the moment you have fired it. Once you have fired it, you no longer have the advantage that you had before. The zulm that somebody does against you is a leverage that you have with Allah that will bring you comfort on the day of judgement even if we were to run out of our own good deeds, it is an investment to be handled carefully.

Reality of our existence: multiple times rights are being taken. What should our stance be as muslims? 1. Contextualize: it is our test as much as it is theirs. 2. We have to answer to Allah in the hereafter. Vertical line! There is no ultimate justice in this world 3. How we react when we are angry is the best indication of 'akhlaaq'. === What are the rights when we are wronged? Spectrum of options: 1. 0 credit: you are allowed to harm back the exact same manner 2. Partial credit: you do not respond in the same way and you expect Allah to reward you for this. You can forgive but not forget. 3. Max credit. You forgive and you mend it. You forgive iand in addition you win by your kindness: Returning an evil with a good. 4. Allah does not love the wrongdoers.. === Thank Allah for not being one of the perpetrators of injustice/zulm.. === 'Zulm' will become ''zulumaat' on the day of judgement. Allah is Nur!!Allah is Ghafur! Allah is Raheem!!

Zulm or being wronged has many degrees - from simple insults/taunts to domestic abuse , SA or being killed. And everyone reacts to things differently, there are women who have gone insane or spent years healing from the abuse they faced. For others, it’s just a matter of getting out of that situation & moving on without any trauma. Not all situations or people can be easily explained. Sometimes It takes years to come to terms with the zulm/hurt/abuse & then more years to heal in order to reach a place where a person can forgive or atleast be neutral. Even then, it’s a journey as there’s many triggers of trauma. What I understood from this lecture is once we are out of that bad situation or Zulm, we can deal with the pain either by retaliating or not retaliate(neutral) or forgive or mend relations. Whatever path we choose , just be careful to not retaliate more than the harm faced.

@abdelhakyac7285 Жыл бұрын
Should also be smart enough to be pragmatic, retaliation wont make you richer or healthier in this life or in the other one, its simply a stupid dumb action in majority of cases..... except perhaps if you have been stolen money and you can retaliate..... but in majoriy of cases, its only to feed ego..... so, better get out of situation, and focus on a happy life, for if you focus on others lives, you wont live yours..... especially others you hate

And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.

Just because Abu Jahal flip, twist, turn, oppress, make up story about Rasulullah SAW rising religion, sees him as no. 1 villain. Doesn't mean Rasulullah SAW is a villain. I know every human being actually aware if they hurt others or not - just whether they're arrogant or not about it.

Been there, done that. Never forgive, never forget. As much as I respect Sheikh Yassir Qadhi, I m not to turn the cheek and cry silently and patiently until it passes. I'm snatching ur eye, if not both eyes. I was bullied, insulted, mocked you name it ! As the culture I come from is filled with a vile and corrupted mentality where we show no mercy to the kind and vulnerable ones. I've been researching and practicing my religion for years and I came to the conclusion that I can PERFECTLY retaliate. And I will stop at nothing. These pieces of advices they all say the same thing : u been obliterated? too bad. Allah loves essabereen. Don't bother people with your broken pieces, go say salat read Koran and you will be fine inshallah. But Allah also hates filthy cowards and renegades that witness injustice and keep silent. So we get to choose our side. There is no grey zone.

If u see injustice then u should speak up and stop the oppressors by doing wrong to the innocents, staying silent is no answer ,when there is so much wrong in this world then the ppl of this world should take responsibility and stop the evildoers. There's prophet Muhammad sallAllahu alaehi wassalam hadith as follows: On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (RadhiyaAllahu ‘anhu) who said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart - and that is the weakest of faith.” [Reported by Muslim]

He is not saying that our only option is to turn the other cheek. He states that we have 4 options. Three choices are acceptable and 1 is unacceptable. Turning the other cheek is only one option, but it is the most difficult for human to do. Another response is to react in kind, but no more than what we have gotten from the aggressor. The biggest reward goes to that person who can walk away but no punishment for that person who reacts in kind. All in all, full punishment lies only on the hands of Allah. I have never had the impression that Islam was a turn the other cheek religion, but tempering anger is part of personal jihad, which from personal experience can be a lifelong struggle.

1) I feel the same way about some people, but I've observed that wounds heal over time, except in those cases where the zaalim actively continues to keep the wound open. 2) There's a term called deterrence, usually mentioned in the context of nuclear weapons. It gives you an advantage and a leverage until the moment you have fired it. Once you have fired it, you no longer have the advantage that you had before. The zulm that somebody does against you is a leverage that you have with Allah that will bring you comfort on the day of judgement even if we were to run out of our own good deeds. It is an investment to be handled carefully - you can get it encashed in this world or in the akhirah, or a bit of both, or you can end up being in debt because of it.
