He was a great yogi. Teacher to so many of the current great lamas. My parents had great respect for him. Known as Khunu Rinpoche to us. I was lucky to get his blessings in 1973 when he was staying at the Tibetan Gonpa in Bodh Gaya.

I first grew admiration for the Khunu Rinpoche (it is rare for me to use the term rinpoche for it is easily given in today's day and age. Khunu lama however was truly a rinpoche or a precious jewel ), So yeah I first grew admiration for Khunu Rinpoche when I first came across his name in the Buddhist books where some accounts of his life were mentioned. Since my admiration has turned into devotion. Truly Shantideva of our time as His Holiness often puts it.

Dalai Lama mentions Negi Rinpoche every time he teaches about the text, Bodhicharya-avatara(way of Bodhisattva) , which is at least 2-3 times a year. Dalai Lama studied this text under Negi Rinpoche.

His yangsi is Tenzin Priyadarshi, a Tibetan Buddhist monk of Indian origin. He has written a book "Running Toward Mystery: The Adventure of an Unconventional Life" about his journey. No doubt he is a true Tulku.
