In the Carens review video of Baiju N Nair he mentioned that "the same mother is feeding Hyundai and Kia". But when the price was announced, literally Carens told Alcazar "Ninte thantha alla ente thantha!!!"

I did call the showroom just for an enquiry on Carens on the same day of price announcement (just vandipraanthan things😉). They said that the waiting period is 1 and a half month. Also they mentioned that the prices will increase around 10-20k by the time I get the car delivered even if I booked the car that same day. That means even the first batch cars would be sold for a prices higher than announced.

Carens’ pricing suggests it is squarely aimed at the market of Ertiga/XL6. Brave attempt, hopefully a success too. At the end of the day, what we need is several options at reasonable prices.

@@vishnupillai300 the automatic variant of carens starts at 17.25 lakhs and ertiga automatic costs just 11.90 lakhs . Both on road prices. Entirely different price ranges . Yes , the manual 2 base models can defeat ertiga on price , otherwise both compete in very different price bands .

This strategy is started way before Mahindra XUV 700, by another automobile giant, Tata. Tata Tiago's price was cheaper than Celerio and Wagon R then. Then it eventually hiked. But by that time they grabbed huge market share.

kia is an subsidiary of hyundai . probably share some executives . plus Hyundai has increased its car prices since kia came to india . it seem to be their strategy offer kia as value for money and charge a premium on hyundai .

What you guys said about India market and value products is absolutely right. There was a time Sony, Samsung, Nokia and such few players controlled the smartphone market, them Redmi came and brought products some of which even having a profit margin of 100rs. These are the products and companies that will succeed in India. Products that comes with better value proposition, Indians will always have an eye for those and these products and companies will only thrive in India.

Yeah Slavia will not be priced close to kushaq. It is comparable with rapid. So will be priced slightly above rapids price. Going to be a segment killer

I guess the pricing is definitely a good strategy. With a lot of bookings and semiconductor shortages (real or not), waiting periods will be long. As JayD mentioned, we will see a couple of price hikes in the coming months. So shock pricing is all well and good, it remains to be seen how many will actually get delivery of a Carens at the launch price.

That kia's bold move. What vivekji said is absolutely true. See that they kept a bold pricing move and everyone is shocked and started talking about it, Even talking cars made an episode on it and alot of people are gonna watch it. They got such an advertisement even without cost of a penny. I am pretty sure carens is gonna rule this segment.💯

Just a theory, not sure, Instead of developing a new car from scratch, they reused tried and tested seltos formula and might have saved some budget of it, since this being a global model, they might sell first few batches at a low profit margin in india , and once they have recouped the expenses from global sales (as this car is to be exported) , might hike prices with later revisions. Current pricing probably put this car under radar of lot of people looking to buy an mpv. This car could be an alternate option for cars from different segment and price brackets.

I would say indian automobile market is difficult because of the high taxes. Almost 40-50% of the on-road price is paid as taxes, especially in states like Karnataka and Kerala. We are paying tax on tax. Manufactures have to manage their margins from this complex tax structure.

Your ex-showroom price includes 28% GST for any car and additional cess will be there depending on the class of vehicle. 15 lakhs onroad price varunna vandik almost 40-45% will be the taxes. The road tax is calculated on the GST which you already paid as tax, which is double taxing. There are few exceptions in North Indian states.

9:47 MG astor base model is not available anywhere, even they can not log the booking for this particular varient. Booking allowed only for second varient onwards. In Bangalore they said the waiting period is 12+ months for base and 3-4 months for top end.

Yeah totally. Great episode and we all should be concerned about the price sky rocketing for no reason. And I suggest each one of us, the indian consumer to be aware of cars pricing and to question yourselves why'd I pay so much for any car you're looking for. As we know the legendary Innova in India was 10laks few years back and now it's x3. Okay material costs are okay we do understand but 3 times? Isn't it quite too much?

Market penetration pricing is the best suited for Indian market, and when it adds value for money to the base, that's it. Done and dusted. You got the first appeal rest is how you maintain it and they have shown that perfection through the service of seltos and sonet.. That's what kia is doing right now.

ഉടൻ പണികിട്ടാൻ പോകുന്നത് മരുതിക്കാണ്.. അവരുടെ വരാൻ പോകുന്ന facelift എന്ന് പേരിട്ടു വരുന്ന Ertiga and XL6 ന് ആണ്‌ പണി ആകാൻ പോകുന്നത്. 😂😂😂 അത് എന്തായാലും കലക്കി. എല്ലാ കാലവും ആളുകളെ പറ്റിച്ചു മുന്നോട്ട് പോകാൻ പറ്റില്ല എന്ന് ഉറപ്പായി.

Longer waiting period, no test drive vehicle for base variants (considering doubted power lag in 1.5NA petrol)and above all my budget is 12L and though Carens has a model in that range, I didn't feel as comfortable as my visit after testdriving Xl6.

Make a comparison video between carens and xl6..Is carens or xl6 a better choice.. Xl6 have been around for sometime and seems quite reliable and comfortable

Booked IBlue Carens 1.5D Luxury variant..due to the interior colours.. otherwise would have booked P+. I was informed there will be a 20k hike during delivery.. waiting period here in Bengaluru is 21 weeks. I felt like they bulged Sonet...But a good vehicle in this 7 seater segment...who doesn't want Innova and XL6

Thanks for insights on this surprise topic. But somehow I feel this is a short term.and may be they will sell limited numbers at this price. Always even if we book today the cars will be delivered 6 months later and dealers will charge you when it's billed, not when booked.
