Fixed mine, and aparently many people in the comments have the same problem. If the AC button and/or defroster is only turning on when hot, replace the two silver capacitors in the midle. Both of them will have three identification lines, which the first one doesnt really matter on neither one. The ones who matter are the second and the third ones. Which in this case are the only ones you need to understand what means to find a replacement capacitor. The second and third lines are: 22 and 16v, which means 22 micro faraday and 16 volts. Same for the second capacitor: 47 and 16v, which means 47 micro faraday and 16 volts. You have to shop for a 22 micro faraday 16 volts capacitor, and a 47 micro faraday 16 volts capacitor. You can find them in any of three types: electrolitic, aluminum, or hybrid (a mix of the first two). If you live in a tropical area like me, you can use any of them. BUT, if where you live gets below 0 degrees, DO NOT buy the electrolitic ones, as the electrolite inside of them will froze and the capacitor WILL NOT WORK, and you will not be able to turn on the heater till summer.

thanks for taking time to address this... the ac in my kia do the same .. only works when hot outside .. i took off the two caps but i didnt find the same in my area. so i tested both of them, the 22 one is only 18 mf and th 47 is 47mf.. do you think i still need to replace them?

Yes..this case same my car no light at ac button at the morning after drive few minute AC light is coming or after a day is normal..after engine off no AC light again..kia forte

Easiest fix is to try and buy a replacement. This repair is rather tedious

Hi mate, kind of the opposite problem with mine! Very similar temperature control panel, ONLY the speed dial works on mine, and it works fine. But the direction, and the temperature gauge don't work at all! It's stuck on hot, and I can't change the direction. Any ideas at all? I find it hard to believe the coincidentally both actuators have gone, so surely it's the panel? Thanks!!

@@ericjolly1702 yes mate! So I thought it too coincidental that both actuators (blend and direction) had broke. The common element is the control panel, so I just replaced the whole thing. Works brilliantly now. I'm not sure where you're located but I found a replacement control panel on ebay for £19 (UK).

Hi GageFixesEverything, I have the same Kia Forte/Cerato and I have a weird issue with this same AC switch panel. When I 1st start the car in morning, the panel is not working. No lights come on the panel for AC, air circulation or heater. But blower and the mirror heating is working. (no lights on the panel though) but AC not at all. But after driving about 10-15 mins, lights come on and everything seems to work as expected. I noticed this is only happens if I park the car for longer period of time, like the night. short distance trips, it's working.

My Kia Forte/Cerato has the problem that the AC does not turn on, the other functions do not work either, only the fan works, but it is not freezing, doing as in the video will it work again?

It should fix your issue. If you can find a good control unit to buy, id recommend that.

My 2012 kia forte koup has the same issue. Fan knob works, middle and temperature knobs don't work. I noticed after about 30 min of driving or running the car the A/C light comes on and and the other knobs start to work. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I'm assuming this is an internal electronic issue with the board. Maybe it just has to warm up? Ended up getting a used climate control module on ebay for like $60. Gonna install it today and see what happens but I also wanna open the old one up and see what it looks like.

A video like this, continuity test set to BEEP..... You went way to fast doing the tests, and should have explained what the meter readings mean since most folks use Beep mode.... Just my 2 cents

My 2008 kia sorento ac light stays on i pushes it in but it will not send a signal to turn on the air compressor on i change the ac pressure switch it still will come unless i jump the compressor could it be in the panel

It could be, but could also be low freon, or a binary / trinary switch.

your blower motor may be going bad and pulling too high of amperage. That is the CAUSE of this issues with the melted plastic on the HAC module., You will need to replace the module most likely or repair it again.
