Many people have yet to realize how good is the car as it came with head turning styling and practicality and for some good reasons this car was so underrated. More important it is fun to drive. It looks like a pretty good car/coupé, it may be a perfect first car, and it surprised me that it also available in Malaysia, because the Kia Forte usually available in sedan only.

had this in sparkling gunmetal grey, the newer style rims which just made it abit more modern, best car i have owned. bought brand new in 2012 * handled bends very well with stock setup and tyres i bought a brand new 2018 subaru impreza sedan and it compares well but has 4 doors. subaru 5-10k more bas price but similar feel. both cars stock

This is a great review very positive and you aren’t picking out the small issues like other car review channels do. I like that. I much prefer the styling of your car compared to the new generation of the koup. Very good review very informative. The kia rio, if you are going for the 2016-17 version, it definitely has a better looking interior, more like a mini sportage, as for the kia forte koup, it looks beautiful in terms of its exterior looking and a Okey interior, in terms of cargo space, despite being a coupe, it is definitely bigger than the rio. Performance wise the rio is lacking some horse power when engaging a sloppy hill, so I would personally pick the koup for an all rounder car.

lessemo if you are in the us the kia rio has a 1.6 liter engine and the forte has a 2.4 liter or 2.0 deppending on the trim

Hi gordon.. im thinking of buying this forte koup as my first car..a used one.. but so many people said that the maintenance cost is high and it would be difficult to find spareparts and the spareparts are expensive as well . So after a while of using this car, what is ur opinion ?

So far after many years of owner ship, I am satisfy with the car, the most common problem that might happen down the road is most likely a coupling problem, which will create a knocking sound when you turn your steering wheel, the coupling it self is dirt cheap like a couple of dollars, the only thing that it is expensive is probably the workmanship that the mechanic is ripping off you. If you are DIY person, this car is actually cheap to maintain. Btw I will be making a video about about all the small problem I encounter with this car soon :)

Are the usual wear and tear items easily available? Oil filter, absorbers, brake pads etc. Would it be economical to maintain the car? @@nedefcuk Recently One of my side mirror stop functioning which is pretty common in korean cars and it kept making motor noise even when it was close but I realize that It was so easy to disable it by simply taking out of a speaker cover and disable the wire, it cos me only RM30 to fix the mirror DIY by replacing the broken gear, the absorbed are pretty cheap as well same goes with the oil filter, If u r a cheap person like me, it is even cheaper if u DIY. Unlike other modern cars, dissemble and assembling parts are pretty straight forward, It does takes a little more fuel as compare to the new civic but overall I think it was pretty decent in terms of maintenance cost. BTW parts are widely available as KIA and HYUNDAI share the same parts, as for break pads, it depends on the brand you wanted to use, it can be dirt cheap and expensive. Once in a blue moon one of the coils will go bad as it was part of the wear an tear parts, and u can just simply buy the parts online and DIY, even changing the cabin filter are dead simple unlike modern cars these days.

My regular full synthetic oil change cost me only RM220, If include ATF fluid change and air filter, it cost me RM 500. The Maintenance is pretty light for kia cars, my toyota avanza is giving me way more problem then my Kia forte koup

@@luischan1314 I bought the 2012 version this week and I like it a lot. My first car also. Before this I drove a rental Toyota Corolla SE from 2020, so the lack in power is noticeable, but nonetheless it's a very enjoyable car to drive. Mine only has 56k kilometers. I paid 5000 euros and it has so many features, no car in its price class can compete.

@@luischan1314 Yeah it's a very nice car! I don't know much about its maintenance costs yet though, and I'm very lucky to have one with few kilometers on it. Not sure how long it's going to last once you surpass the 100.000 km's. Shame the xenon headlamps are 500 dollars, I can't be bothered to spend 10% of the car's value on some nice headlamps. They really make it look like a much newer car than it actually is. The flippers are also a very fun feature that don't get much attention!

Currently this car is very very affordable, with all the stuff that comes with it, cheaper than a brand new Axia, and the bonus point point that you get with this car, is "Good Looking", In terms of maintenance, I own a 1st gen Avanza, an Axia and the Koup, I don't know if it is just me or what, the cost of maintenance and repair is about the same. The only down side that you will get is a bunch of ppl are going to constantly spam you to death about the resale value till the end of earth.
