1:10 start point. If you guys are working with the engine in the car, there is very little working space. You have to use a normal 17mm wrench, not that weird looking one they use in the video. That one, Getting if off is difficult but possible, however, it doesn’t allow you to turn the tensioner enough to easily put on the belt due to the motor mount blocking, which is not shown in the video. It’s also easiest to release the belt from the idler and put it back on at the water pump- especially if you are working by yourself. It’s too cramped at the idler and **** the belt is quite wriggly. Make sure you take a drawing of the belt diagram because it’s not easy to memorize the proper placement of the belt.

I just support the engine and take the mount off and jack till the tensioner is clear of the side wall. it's a breeze that way, takes all of 7-10min

For everyone talking about the engine issues. taking the tire off is extra work, but I can save you a ton of time when trying to put the belt back on.

Save the power steering pulley for last you can pull up on the wrench with your right arm when in the car and you can put the belt on with your left. Hope this helps.

So first off if you have a 2013 kia optima sxl it's a 17mm rench make sure you have a cheater pipe or extra rench to help pull that rench. Tip if your doing this alone pull the adjustment into place tie it up then crawl under and pull the belt around the compressor easiest way. This video made me so mad.

Great video. I have a question for anybody who can answer. That tensioner pulley on my 2013 kia optima has like a metal rectangle piece in the back top of it and it is resting on top of the metal body of engine and making a ticking noise from idling vibration. Is that sign of belt being too loose and needing replace or is there some way to adjust that tensioner so that it wont vibrate and make ticking noise from metal hitting metal. Only does it when idling, not when driving. Thanks in advance.

I would def replace all pulleys. Usually ur water pump won't need to be replaced unless it's making noise or you are having overheating issues.

Obviously comment section is not mechanically inclined. U cant really record yourself replacing the belt with the engine in the vehicle bcuz theres hardly any clearance even for ur hands. If u r a lil mechanically inclined i recommend doing what i did n that was to remove the motor mount to have more leverage in lining everything up properly and easily
