Kia Optima vs Volkswagen Passat (english subtitled)

Hi Elvis373.Was wondering about the handling and suspension? Some of my friends are saying that they are still inferior to European cars such as the Alfa ROmeo and Audi etc. Was wondering if could get ure thoughts on that? Personally, Im very much in love with almost ALL of KIA's new designs.Just wondering if the technicals match up with its looks :) Appreciate any reply. Thanks in advance! :D

What about standard warranty? Also, I didn't here anything about fuel efficiency. The Passat driver said the Passat "looked" more quiet, is it actually quieter?

Honda went through the same issues in the 70s, pretty sure they're now a very respected manufacturer. KIA, too, will get the respect they're going for, I guarantee it! Its already started in 2010-2011. Within the next 5 years most people will have a completely different opinion. Those, like yourself, will put foot in mouth and admit their views don't hold up in the present

Thanks for the reply man. I sorta have the same opinion also. Plan to buy a Kia in the future. I'm in Malaysia BTW, and Kia seems to be gaining popularity (as well as Hyundai)

Hoezo beter? Het zijn toch beide producten van de VW groep? Ze hebben ongeveer dezelfde buitenafmetingen en allebei voorwielaandrijving. Een audi A4 quattro zal wel beter presteren maar daar betaal je dan ook de hogere prijs voor.

I have been driving passat over 10 years. I started with a B3 now a 3B. When looking at the new models i cant shake the feeling they look very cheap and flimsy compared to the outdated passat models that feel a bit more sturdy

Test drove them both, and although the Kia has a much better interior (seat quality), the drivve in the Passat is much better. Both are good cars, but in the end, Iiked the Passat better, which is funny because I hadn't even considered the Passat and the Optima was my front runner to begin with.

Hello jawatroxion.Kia Optima is an excellent car, great design, I love this car really.Audi and Alfa are great cars to.European cars are a little higher quality of.But kia have now great cars and great desing ,you can se kia k9,that car i soo good :)

Yeah Passat CC is a great car wish I could get one. The only problem between me from getting the car is the price. I live in Singapore, a tiny island in the south east Asia region, cars here are very expensive, a VW CC cost SDG$197,000= Euro$ 117,928. And a Kia K5 cost SDG$141,000= Euro$84,405. So yeah......

VW quality here in the tropics is appalling. Switches wear out, upholstery unsticks, weather strips become brittle. Europeans get away because of the mainly cold weather, but in everyday heat and humidity, VWs fall apart. Kia's on the other hand last and last with none of those problems. The olders ones are very boring I'd admit, but the new ones are stunners and drive/handle very well. On another note, isn't the 1.6TDI Passat a better match for this 1.7 Kia? I think using the 2.0TDI is unfair

Wonderwin, you're uninformed. You're basing your statement off of past experiences. KIA wasn't known for making great vehicles, for a long time. They've recently brought in chief designer from Audi and VW, hence the reason new optimas are sleek as hell. If you're not accustomed to a KIA engine, go test drive one, guarantee you'll think differently. The only thing holding KIA back right now is their emblem. Too long has the emblem been a negative aspect to their vehicles. For good reason too.

From judging your comments, I can tell you're just some 13 year old kid. Fact remains-- They are unreliable. Since Mercedes Benz merged with Daimler Chrysler, quality and reliability went down. Audi is just a glorified VW. BMW... You already know how low they score on reliability tests.
