Hi didn't get how u knew chain was stretched by disconnecting and connecting camshaft senser was it because it didn't run when disconnected?
@sandyande4 жыл бұрын
Sorry never explained that very well, the code generated told us the the crank/cam were out of sync so I just wanted to check I had a cam input. I checked it with the scope but a quicker method is just to disconnect and see if engine does not start with out it!! But then again some now are smart enough only to run of crank sensor only, hope that helps cheers sandy

death rattle , remmington engineering , just done mine idler balancer shaft teeth break off
@mrlister20003 жыл бұрын
This sounds like it's got the "death rattle" - www.remmington.info/kia%20sedona%20sump.htm . This is caused by balance idler gear wear on No1 main crank carrier cap, which drives the oil pump

Thanks for information I think that's the problem cheers sandy

@@sandyande It's a very expensive repair. In my experience I would search for a replacement engine, or sell the car as spares/repair. Since getting mine repaired 4 years ago there hasnt been a week when something hasn't gone wrong with it. P0087 & P0088 are popular fault codes on these things too, and when these pop up you might as well sign your bank account over to the garage! I've spent over £1500 trying to stop these fault codes showing up. They are High or Low fuel pressure warnings. What's more hilarious is when BOTH show up at the same time! I love the car to drive but it's mechanically cheap engine parts that kill it.
