Super video, Thanks! And I really liked the super-duper-home-made-filling pump! One question though: if the fluid is "burned" and you do not recommend changing - what to do? Adding back the "bad" fluid - will it not ruin the transmission?

Thanks for this work. I recently changed the transmission oil. Followed the exact procedure. The drained volume was slightly more than 4 liters. I put in 4 liters, ran the engine for 10 minutes on idle, switched off the engine, and removed the overflow plug. Unexpectedly, around half a liter came out before I got a thin stream. I am apprehensive that so much oil has come out. I'm not sure this much would not have come out had my engine been ON. So please let me know when more oil will come out of the plug when the engine is ON or off...
@basicdetail45122 ай бұрын
Thats ok trust the overfill plug stream ... and the mesure got to be temps hot (more than 10 min ) like 20 is more realistic and the car have to run during the process
@KumarKumar-fc2gc2 ай бұрын
@@basicdetail4512 Thanks for your reply. I am just back after redoing it and found that the car engine must be running while you check the overflow plug. If the engine is off, the oil stream will come out too early, and your transmission will not get enough oil. There is a half-liter difference between the engine off and ON.
@chefchris51332 ай бұрын
Check the level with the engine running and transmission at operating temp. If it is not running it will drain out too much fluid.

I think that my takeaway from this is that leveling it isn't important if I am just measuring how much I remove and put the exact amount that I take out back in. I also don't need to bother with checking the overflow. But level means I get the most out of it.

Thanks for your video! Just got the Missus a used 2020 Sedona and I am getting everything to schedule. With transmissions I always follow the basic rule - take out 1 quart, put 1 quart in. Never fails. Was curious about your tool. Since I drive a VW, tranny oil must be pumped in. For that purpose I got a $10-$15 hand pump at my local auto parts which works fine. Just wanted to share. There's something wrong here. I drained 3.7 liters of old oil. And when I filled it up, only 3 liters of new oil came in. So it is too little by 0.7 liters. I think you need to add additional oil from the top to make it earlier and not worry about the level control hole. What do you think?

Agree don't ever do a full flush, always issues that way. The right way to do it is drain and replace, wait a week, and do it again. This will get most of the old transmission fluid out without risking your transmission from having issues after a full flush

Long research. These trannys do have a filter like previous respond, tranny has to be dismantled. Yes just another manufacturing problem. Sedona here 148k+ mi with just one tranny drain/fill half way and about to do another.

All was well until the last 5-minutes of the video where you started to get lazy (Non-contact thermometer is no where close to getting the actual Transmission Fluid Temperature); since you don't change the transmission fluid that frequent as engine oil, that canister you spent time to build will just be contaminated and needing a thorough cleaning before the next use... wasting more time with less accuracy... No 👍 this round. 👎👎
@basicdetail4512Ай бұрын
dear richard wipe the foam from the edge of your mouth... the reading of the thermometer only indicates that the minimum temperature of the reading has been reached... it's a diy video....not everyone has one professional scanner... (and by the way I checked with my scanner off camera) and for the canister you are exaggerating... my canister will be dedicated to ATF Fluid use your good sense ....and it is probably cleaner than the fluid pump from the local mechanic.. . so richard if you know so much why watch my tutorials?
