Good review - thanks. One specific advantage over the previous Sorento is the fact that it now offers the option of a manual transmission (the predecessor only came in automatic form). Some of us have an aversion to automatic cars..! Again, although you don't mention it, I note that this car has a manual (mechanical) handbrake instead of those ridiculous electric handbrakes with plastic switches or buttons. But I'd like to know if there is a footrest to the left of the clutch pedal please?

Ouch - I feel your pain..! I'm curious to know if when you bought the car it had a Full Service History? Did it have especially high mileage? Even a well-engineered engine needs regular oil changes. If it DID have FSH, then that's very bad news. I take it this was a 2.2 litre Diesel?

That sucks, next time you buy consider having the a compression test done on the engine to see if the cylinders are all in speck. I almost bought a Sportage and just to be safe had a compression test done and it the cylinders were all well out of spec. Best money ever spent, I ran the other way, anytime you're considering an older high mileage car consider a compression test, it'll save you're a**.
