Kia Sorento 2021 review: Sport+ diesel

I just did a test drive of the Gt line-disesel, yesterday. What i observed: -Looks even better than in pics and videos, although the side view looks plain but it suits the overall muscular look. -Interior was very porsche and very high end. Infotainment was very smooth and high resolution. Only thing i didnt like were the air vents, not my taste but wife loved it. If this had the interior of the new 2022 tucson it would have been perfect. My other small issue was the driver display, the blindspot monitor in the display was small and most times unusable, check this if you have impaired vision. - The drive was almost perfect, the car had an intense acceleration. The diesel engine sounded mean and muscular. Very quiet inside the car, can only hear the engine at high revs. You feel the small bumps slightly because of those 20 inch alloys but on bigger bumps i felt nothing. 0-100 kmph was like 7 seconds. Car was giving 7-8 l per 100km mileage. Also, the car is ridiculously good on corners. This is my balanced view,i loved the car, its a percect family car. I will be buying the GT line diesel next month.

Its remarkable that Hyundai-Kia still managed to keep 3-row seating as standard across all variants even with the Turbo-Hybrid and most especially the upcoming Turbo-PHEV next year, despite the additional batteries and electric motors taking up space at the rear.

I’ve got a 2015 Sonata and the engine blew up at 42,000 miles despite changing the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

Very thorough video thanks. The UK automotive media haven't done any reviews on the new sorento yet, which is a shame, as it looks very good. All the safety equipment you get as standard, you would have to spec on similar cars such as the Skoda Kodiak. So the Sorento is definitely worth the asking price.

How about the solidity of the suspension system of the new sorento ? Is it tough and suitable to the harsh roads ? Will it still be going well after 150000 km , and which is more solid and reliable , this sorento or the new ssangyong rexton? I hada kia sportage 2017 and it was not solid and durable enough like my wife rav4 ..

Kia have come a long way and overall this is a great looking and built SUV - if it was 2010. Diesel is on its way out. If this was electric or hybrid petrol I would buy it. But it’s not. So I won’t.

Definitely a plug in hybrid model the way to go, so the competition w Santa Fe and RAV4 still to watch out for. Great features though, and it might just be me but I really don't like the front facia design, prefer the more modern classier looking previous model design.

No, the Tucson is smaller , considered as medium size SUV. This is a large size SUV.

@MegaIdiotJerk perhaps in America but in Australia, Sorento (add to that CX9, Santa Fe, Highlander, Pathfinder) are considered large. Nothing larger than these in our market so it's appropriate to call them large given this is an Australian video.

Can someone clarify about the steering weight under parking speeds in comfort settings ? Some reviews say it is very heavy and some say it is light. Is it because GT variant's steering is purposefully made heavier than other variants through all settings ?

Actually like my 2016 version better. I have the since discontinued 3rd row delete option, which I can’t do without. No kids and rarely other adults so the extra storage in back plus the huge under floor storage where third row would of folded is awesome for my cycling and K9 stuff. If they still had that option on the Sorento or Telluride I’d be in line to buy a new one right now.

kia is a JUNK CAR,/ CRAP CAR i bought a brand new last 2018 sorento and not even a yr i kept sending the car to the shop for repair and i filed complain before cos i wanted to replace the car after we got a big problem with the car that shutdown in the middle of the road that my husband need to push the car while i having hard time to drive cos the car don't start even the battery is new. but the kia elk grove california wont let us replace the car we bought for few mons,so i dont have a choice but to use it until one day i got into accident cos the car i drove even i stepped the brake still hit the one infront of me..i felt like even i stepped the brake harder the car run faster that caused damage to my car just less than a yr ...now i learn NO MORE KIA FOR ME, i learned my lesson and wasted my money i work for.
