Hey I know you made this video 2 years ago, but I just wanted to say thank you because you are the only person i could find with a detailer, easy to follow video on this installation. Seriously thank you.

Just by looking at the way the light was being reflected inside the headlight compared to the right and left you can tell the bulbs needed rotated to get the correct beam pattern. I also have a Kia Soul and did an LED upgrade. The light output was terrible until I discovered there was a set screw on the bulb that allowed it to rotate in the housing. I got the best beam pattern by orientating the LED chips on the bulb with one facing the passenger side and the other facing drivers side - so basically sideways. With the led facing upwards I got barely no light output at all. This is because halogen bulbs radiate their light in a 360 degree circumference unlike LEDs which are directional. As far as the dust cap goes, I put mine in but used a dremel tool to carve out a groove to run the wires through. Once they were in I used silicone to seal up the grooves. In the summer, I had no problems with fogging of the headlight but once winter hit I did. I used a hair dryer to blow in warm air to clear the moisture. Hope this helps someone out there with their Soul.

Asisde from the LED orientation facing sideways, did you also have to realign your light pattern accoding to the user manual?

Hey friend. I like the video, but I just wanted to correct something you mentioned. The red seal on the headlamp assembly isn’t actually a factory part. This seal comes preinstalled on the bulbs that you purchase. Occasionally they get stuck to the headlamp assembly, and they’re left behind when you remove the old bulb.

so you do not replace the original covers for keeping anything from getting inside of that area of the headlight?

Hi! Thanks for the video! It was really informative! I was about to return the LED lights I bought because I thought the cap needed to go back on. Obviously it's better if it does go back on, but you stated in a previous comment that your customer was fine with it off. Are there any other solutions to this? AND if it does fog up, how do you get the moisture out? Hopefully you can help me, or if it's better to just return the LED's I bought then I will. THANK YOU and I look forward to your help!

Did you ever find an answer for this Brian? I really don't want to leave the caps off mine
@BriNJ19833 жыл бұрын
@@roblilley2343 I ended up buying a different one that fit better, but one went out and had to buy another. It's sort of a hit or miss with figuring out which one will fit (I'm sorry, I don't have the light measurements anymore :-/ )

It REALLY needs to have the dust covers reinstalled... period. Headlights like on a Subaru Forestor or american car bulbs mount to the headlight , boom done - its sealed .BUT on the Kia Soul the "headlight housing" you removed the cover from, houses reflector assy and linkage separately . Connecting the bulb on a Kia Soul headlight only attaches the bulb to the reflector assembly which "floats inside" the headlight housing therefore you will get moisture inside the headlight with the cover removed which will collect dirt and eventually films over the bulb . This will be obvious when you look at the headlight in the rainy season and theres water inside and water spots ... You need the new 360 degree versions that are fanless and mount like the originals .....

Just curious since you took those plastic caps off did you notice any moisture getting in your headlights after installing them. Just had to remove them on my vehicle which is a 2017 Chevy Cruze and was wondering if moisture will come in and fog up the headlight assembly
@Choice7727 жыл бұрын
Hello, I can't tell you for sure if you will or will not have any issues with removing those caps on your Chevy Cruze, However on the Kia Soul I installed the lights on in the video has had zero issues in the nearly 4 months they have been installed ,in fact the customer just brought it back this past Saturday to have some driving lights installed. He is very happy with the LED Headlights which were installed back in October. Hope this helps you out , sorry I can't give you a definite yes or no answer do to being a different vehicle from the one I installed them on. Thanks for watching

Ryan Perez hi! I’m about to install led bulbs for my Soul 2017, 1st of all thank you for your video, Can I ask your opinion, I thinking about drill a hole on cover cap, do you think that will help to keep moisture away or that bad for led bulbs b/c will trap the heat, thank you.

You'll need to buy an aftermarket universal LED dust cover. They have 'em on Amazon for cheap.

There are a couple different style head lights available projector type and non projector type . Non projector style calls for H13 and the projector type calls for H7 form what I have researched. Hope this helps Thanks for watching!

Quick question on the orientation of the LED is it vertical or horizontal with reference to the ground?
@matty10535 жыл бұрын
Horizontal. Vertical will 'waste' the light, and probably blind other drivers.

I am not sure how you did the drivers side without removing the nut that holds the headlight lens assembly with out removing the screw that is in the left front wheel well unless you just broke that off. Page 7/78 ownersmanuals2.com/get/kia-soul-2014-owners-manual-37121
@Choice7726 жыл бұрын
Nothing was broken off. If I am understanding you correctly the "screw " you are referring to is at the the corner of the the fender where the bumper fascia meets the fender which just holds bumper fascia to the fender. You could remove that screw and move the fascia outwards to remove headlight and replace bulb I didn't have to from what I recall, this install was over a year ago. I do this kind of work daily and can't recall every step on every install over the years. Thanks for watching!
@patmulcahy8526 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the note. Initially, I did everything you showed and could not get the lens out How hard could this be!). So, I watched about 6 videos and if they did a video it was on the passenger side - which is easy. I finally searched for the manual and saw the step of releasing the bumper cover. I watched yours today and saw that you just pulled the lens out and thought I would add the comment. Thanks.

That looks like a total hack job. You did not reinstall the headlight access door. Now moisture will fill the head with water and the inside of the headlight will fill with dirt. What a hack .
@Choice7726 жыл бұрын
It has been 2 years since the install, and I see the owner often as he lives near by and is also a friend of the family he has had no issues with dirt or moisture getting into the headlight housings. The owner is fully aware of the possibility as I informed him when the lights were installed.The “access doors” would not fit with led fans nor would the fans work properly if the “access doors” could be reinstalled as there would not be adequate room for cooling. Thanks for you insight and for watching!
