Great job Cas! Thanks for the detail. My 2010 came with fog lights. They look great, however useless. I really don't think there is anything that will cut through a dense Maine fog. I might try an LED Bulb replacement. Not expecting much difference. But thanks again!

i miss the maine fog..well not really we moved to north east tennessee from sanford maine a couple years ago..now we not only have the valley fog, but the mountain clouds...this helps me realize i need to put fog lites on my kia. thanks

But at 18, I dee-dee-moude out of there. Talk about hicksville. It's so funny when Mainers come to Massachusetts and try to blend in. Fail. We would drive to Sanford in order to come see the drag races. The good old days for sure. My home state now is NH and I'm wintering in south Florida.

Hi, Still a relevant video in 2021. If you still own the Soul, can you post a pic of how the switch mount looks ? I am prepping to do a similar fog light add to my 2014+ Soul. The switch that came with my harness is a floppy type vs what yours had. Thanks.

On the 2018 you have to move the windshield washer tank out of the way.On the driver side you have the air intake assembly in the fender you have to take it out.It may have been better to take the bumper off the car.

I installed the same lights in the video . I tried the two face molding tape. That was not a good bound? I hack saw off the bolt connection and drilled 1/8 in holes in the fin,s on the back pulled some steel wire through the fin,s and through the back of the insert and twisted the wire till it tighten . I stalled them and it is solid and worked fine.

Gerald Linen great fix! Good mod, I’m still using the double sided tape it has held up so far but I as well am thinking of a bit more secure fit. Your fix sounds like a winner thanks.

beegoe75 Thanks for watching , that’s so strange you would ask me today I was actually thinking on securing them a little better, the tape has held up just fine don’t get me wrong it’s just that I’m surprise the tape actually has in this Texas heat we get up to about 103F on average,and what I was thinking was to pull the fog lights off and in the back actually drill small little holes inside the fins of the fog light and two small holes into the fog light frame on the Kia and kind of use a zip tie or wire to hold them in place just for added security and a peace of mind knowing that should the tape where down over time with temperatures the wire or zip ties would still hold them in place. All in all for the price these fog lights still hold up fine with no issues glad you enjoyed the video be safe.👍🏼

Thanks for watching, the hole was made with a drill bit that matched the diameter of the light switch, very simple. As for the lights themselves I simply used double tape which to my surprise is still holding since I made this video however I am thinking on using a wire and drill small holes behind the LED light fins and using that to make a more secure mount on the Kia soul bumper frame. @@user-hk6io4gv7x Thanks for watching, the tape did hold up well to my surprise in this Texas heat, but I did upgrade my fog lights after a while on another video. I started to wonder the same as you “Will it hold after several years”? So that’s when I decided to upgrade as a precaution. Hope this helps stay safe and sound. 👍🏽✌🏽

The switch to the relay should be connected to a switched 12v supply so you don't accidentally leave your lights on and drain your battery down. That way the lights can come on and off with the vehicle ignition switch.

I’m currently trying to devise an effective mounting scheme for my CB and ham mobile tranciever. Just got a 2015 with 5355 miles on it. 73!

Jimmyzb36 Nice very low miles cant beat that. I really never had to much experience with CB radios, but I sure enjoyed using scanners and running different frequencies just to listen in on airport, fire and rescue, police and fire department emergency broadcast. I bought mine from radio shack years ago when they were around and actually sold good stuff now there not many around and sale junk for the most part. I had a Uniden scanner back in the 90's forgot the model its been so long.

These lights have an aluminum case. Didn't know you could bench grind aluminum. How difficult was that?

Gravely McCravy It was a little time consuming but I shortened that by sawing off the majority of the frame then followed up with the grinding. Thanks for watching 👍🏼✌🏼

not criticizing but cant see why youd go to all that trouble, fog lights are cosmetic. I live close to the boonies and have tried mine in various conditions and they make no difference to visibility

Does it matter which one I connect first to battery? Black first or red first? I dont disconnect the battery right?

Isaiah Cabrera Sanchez Thanks for watching, as a safe guard i would disconnect the battery, negative -first. Install your fog light setup then reconnect your battery terminals when everything is connected and tightened properly. When reconnecting battery start with positive +then negative -connector. Please wear safe goggles and gloves if possible, I know in my video I didn't but that's just me, I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. 👍🏼✌🏼

Why not connect the hot lead to the fuse box so you don't have to worry about leaving the lights on. I have a setup on my HHR the lighst go on when the key is on' I went with the angle eye and projection fog lights on my Soul will connect through the fuse box.

b bestman Thanks for watching you make a good point but in my case, I want to be able to shut them off at certain times here in Texas cops can be really funny if you’re riding with your fog lights on. I normally turn them on at night time or when I’m driving the back country roads for better luminosity. 👍🏼

Hey b bestman. This is a great idea. Do you happen to know where the switched 12V supply in a 2013 kia soul is located? The limited options in the fuse box appear to have 12V regardless of whether the engine is running

@@garretwilliams8165 Hi I jumped the fog light switch with the cigarette lighter 20 amp in the fuse box and a 2 way switch bottom panel right side of the steering column can switch from angle eye to fog lights, hope this helps also the lights shut off with the ignition off I went with fog and angel lights I got on eBay for under $20 but spent $40 dollars for the wiring harness bling lights dot com

I saw your air intake. is it worth getting an air intake for this car?

DeductiveShane thanks for watching, in my honest opinion it offers a tad bit more power. I would say around 7% - 10% increase on take off and since mine is standard at 4th gear up to 6th gear at 5,000 rpm and up you can hear the breather working and pass up on hi-way is far more noticeable as oppose to before. I’m averaging the percentage tho, I’m planning to take it for a Dyno just for curious reasons and if price fits into my budget. Aside from that I’m very pleased with the mod, and most definitely pleased with my little KIA Soul!✌🏽

Thanks for watching, if you’re 2016 Kia has the same diameter as the 2013 fog light assembly it would work just fine. Unfortunately I do not have a 2016 model I cannot measure the diameter. What you can do is search for Fog light assembly on Amazon for your particular vehicle year in the description of the item it should indicate what years it covers if 2013 is listed then yes this will work for your model. If your headlights are not more than 27 watts per headlight and your inline fuse on the fog lights are 3 amps, you should be ok. Pause video at 26:14 for ratings. Keep in mind by doing it this way your Fog Lights will be on every time you power on your headlights, in some states this is illegal. Hope this helps and thanks for watching ;-).

Gear1993Head xxx Thanks for watching, I actually wired mine to be independent , I control the on and off function through the toggle switch itself I didn’t want to risk shorting out the main wiring system from my Kia soul so this was done as a precaution. Hope this helps👍🏼✌🏼

Gear1993Head xxx You are correct that would work I’m just very leery of tapping into factory wired harnesses due to the fact that I don’t have the actual diagram to where the wires actually lead and power control they have in the vehicle, with that being said I wouldn’t want to take the risk of tapping into a lower voltage or higher voltage fluctuation within the power system so in short I’m just playing it safe. It would be more convenient though to be honest with you having auto control instead of having to manually turn on and turn off the fog lights however here in San Antonio Texas we don’t often have too much fog days. Most often times I only power them on if I’m driving late at night just for better visibility.👍🏽✌🏽

Mike Gatto Thanks for watching the tape is still holding the fog lights till today, a few notes tho here in Texas the lowest temperature we have had so far is 28 degrees, the rain hasn’t effected the grip and as for washing I always wash my cars by hand I don’t use heavy pressure wash and if I ever do it would be for the tire wall and under vehicle for mud and dirt. Summer is around the corner and the heat will be the next test here in Texas it can easily reach 100+ degrees.I was concerned a bit myself after applying the fog lights with tape but now I’m not so concerned at this point now it’s a matter of time. Hope this helps.

Gary Shumaker Thanks for watching I truly appreciate the fact that you enjoyed the video however as far as your 2016 Kia soul since mine is a 2013 model. Manufacturers often change certain design aspects on newer vehicles. I would think that the principal is still the same but as we both know car manufacturing companies every year try to make the vehicles more complicated for people like me who are DIY individuals, to work on vehicles.What I can suggest is search KZbin or Google in regards to replacing fog lights on a 2016 Kia soul. I truly wish I could've been of more assistance I hope this information helps in some way. Again thank you for watching.

I had a 2015 Soul and the passenger side is easier to get to but there is a big airbox, really an intake noise muffler that gets in the way. If you do a cold air intake you do away with all that extra plumbing. There are a LOT of screws along the bottom of the bumper to the plastic pan. Best bet is to pull the wheel off and just move the inner fender out of the way.
