A future solution to make this real easy is to install a plenum spacer. One of the Stinger guys made a one inch spacer. It increased HP and TQ and as a side benefit, gives full access to the passenger side plugs.

Good for you that you found a couple “Stinger Winger” buddies. Great fun working on your Stinger with Wingers. Personally I don’t think removing the manifold is worth the extra effort. Once you remove the “trouble plug” a couple times it’s a snap. I am however considering the manifold spacer.🤗 cheers

I just seen that too! I did the workaround myself on mine. But this may help the ones who want to do it this way 😁

You also got the turbo sequel. I'm taking mine to the dealership in a month or so to replace both turbos.
@twn2rbo2 жыл бұрын
It’s unfortunate, several modified and non modified get this. It’s the turbo wastegate actuator rod squeaking. I know someone with a leased G70 no mods, has the turbos replaced 3 times then made them take the car back which they did. This video is not my car, but I do also have this happening again on my right turbo

@@twn2rbo yeah bro mine still stock. It's sad really, because, I got all the parts and now I can't put them on because of that issue, and I can't give it to the dealership right now cause I'm in college and I need the car. Shit I bought JB4, with Bluetooth and EWG wires, Maintec Variable Catback Exhaust, Wing, lip but can't put them on, so fucking sad.

Nice work as usual. Doesn’t look to hateful to do. Not required to replace o ring gasket’s ? May consider in the future. I changed plugs and left the plenum in place. Definitely a trial in patience. Knowing my luck I’m covering intake ports cus I’d end dropping something on one of those holes.🤣

Not bad at all, i will cover mine when I do my plugs for sure and vacuum the area, I would def drop something down there 😂. The gasket did not move appear to worn in anyway, I prob wouldn’t replace it on mine with 13k but It wouldn’t hurt

About to put HKS on mine, did you have to unplug and plug back in the battery terminal, specifically to reset it? Or is it possible I can get away without doing that? Thanks!
@twn2rbo2 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to, but I would just to be safe. Def let the ECU fall asleep and keep the key fob away from the car if you don’t. Anytime I unplug harnesses and stuff I disconnect the negative terminal in the truck just to be safe

Great video, thank you very much. The intake manifold gasket wasn't replaced, it's OK to re-use without any issues? I remember having to replace it when I had a Nissan VQ35DE engine and had to remove intake plenum to get at a bank of spark plugs.

Yes. Im making a vid on all the Stingers now, the years the issues etc. the coil packs on 18-21 or 22, suck, plastic pieces break and makes the coils go bad. Upgrade them to the rubber / silicone ones

Not to brag, but I managed to change that PITA middle passenger side plug with out removing the intake. The trick is to remove the other two coils first, disconnect their connectors, and remove them, then you should be able to finagle the middle coil out with some twisting and pulling. Took me about an hour to do the passenger side, but I do have a lot of extensions and universal joints. The right tools make all the difference.

When I did my plugs, I did the work around myself with the swivel sockets. I think that was is less intimidating to the avg person who doesn’t wrench often. My plugs are due again, and I’m going to record the workaround on mine, but thanks for that tip for everyone to see 👊👊

Thanks! There’s really no set time with coil packs, they should last a long long time 80k miles.. I dunno , however with this car there have been some owners report failed packs here and there. They are tuned as well though, but it may be a faulty part due to it being a relatively new car still.

Did you put Never Seize on the plugs?
@twn2rbo2 жыл бұрын
Great question! No. These plugs are already treated with an anti size coating from the factory. Putting some on there can alter the torque values and create problems, they should be installed as is. Hope that helps

Lol, plug replacement back in the day was soooooo easy! ! !

IKR.. I did my stinger with the work around using swivel sockets, but didn’t like that angle on the passenger middle one putting it back in and was hard to get any torque on it. But I changed my fiancés plugs on her car and there is no way around it, manifold had to come off. I think they engineer it that way to make money off the service side tbh

You do know the kias come with an internal cooldown timer if you do run it right? The fans will run with the car off if its hot outside and the engine is in danger of heat soaking.. well now ya know and kids "Do not hack any wires on your car no matter how kool it seems" it will cause corrosion issues and or increase the resistance in that circuit inevitably wires or wire will run warmer due to resistance 😉.

I have the denso, hks are always out, haven't put them in yet, will be in a couple weeks, at the moment tho I am throw a overboost code with the injen intakes at 95%throttle, hoping the colder spark plugs will help that or I have to wait for the jb4 to fix it
@twn2rbo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes it will. My first mod was intakes, and once I put the cat back on I kept going into limp mode from over-boosting. It wasn’t every single time but it was often. I did the plugs after that hoping it would help but if anything it did it more. The JB4 fixed it and I daily map 3 with e30 and haven’t had it happen since. If you haven’t got the JB4 yet, use this link from BMS, it will help support my channel 😃 bit.ly/3OlKuMq

Nice vid as always but: You dont have to take out the intake manifold to change plugs. Plugchange only takes 15min if you have a magnetic plug nut with a flex top.
@twn2rbo2 жыл бұрын
thanks 👊 you’re def faster than me, I did the work around on mine the first time, but it took me more than 15 mins to thread all the spark plugs in and out. Threads for days.. The work around is easy, but the middle one on the passenger side could get cross threaded if you’re not very careful. This way took around 45 mins which isn’t bad. I will make one doing it the other way on my car here in a few thousand miles

Guys, why didn't you do the hot water line removal from the throttle body while you had it at a super easy "state"/ " position " to perform this very essential task? Thing is guys, your expensive C.A.I are not doing you any good at all, with that hot water line still connected to your throttle body, your " cold-air" is getting "baked" before it enters the intake plenum. I can 100% promise you, whence you remove and cap off the hot water inlet jets, and couple the two hotwater lines together, you will absolutely notice a huge, and I mean HUGE!! Throttle response and lightening fast acceleration, as well as a much faster transmission shifting pattern. I can not stress enough that you MUST remove and splice together the hot water lines, and then you will absolutely get all the benefits from your C.A.I install, and much faster throttle response.
