I know this was 2 years ago but You should inform your dealership they will no longer be your dealer for as long as they exist for quoting that insane price , the correct response from a reputable dealer is sure thing sir if you bring in your key we'll show you how to take care of that. Period

I'm glad I checked here. Both of the batteries in my fobs are dead, and this saved me from having to contact a dealer. I even had the batteries on hand because I'm a computer guy, and those are standard CMOS batteries for motherboards. Thanks, Rob!

Thank you very much! I have been searching and searching for how to replace the battery in my Keyless entry fob for a 2020 Soul. Most of the information I found was for different fobs. My fob looks a lot like the one in your video and as it turns out this is the method that works. It is very difficult to pry the cover off and the key to making that work is the placement of the manual key to start the separation. Thanks again for the video like you say it is always easier after seeing someone else do it.

Just be careful when prying it open with the key. That plastic tab is a little on the fragile side. But the end of the emergency key is exactly the right size which is probably intentional. Thanks for the video! My fob battery was getting very tired.

Yes, there's a mechanical backup key built in when the battery in the fob is dead. You have to remove a plastic cover on the door handle to use it.

Worked for 2020 kia soul turbo, extremely hard to open and prying the battery out is hard because of the weather strip in the way. They could have designed it like this key fob would be better.

Recommend don't use the key to separate the front and back half of the key fob, it broke off the small plastic piece inside for me.
