After Punch was launched it overlapped Nexon. When customers go to Tata showroom they get 2 options in this budget. Nexon and Punch. Nexon has bigger size and has Turbo engine but Punch is cheaper which slowly pulled them towards Punch and thus created a record in sale of single model in 2024. I feel similar thing might happen in Kia also. Now customer has 3 options Seltos, Sonet and now Syros. If Seltos is bigger car and might be out of budget, Sonet and Syros might be under consideration for many. While Syros has better space management and more features Sonet has advantage in Price as it has 1.2 NA option also which is not available in Syros. Yes NA engine is dull but majority of buyers are not enthusiasts as they want the car to do the normal jobs. So customer might be tempted to go for Sonet more if they compare with Syros ( whether the additional price is worth and feature would be used really). In reality customers dont bother about NA or Turbo only price and reliabilty . Statistics show that whichever model has both NA and Turbo models( like Sonet, Fronx etc ,) , NA model sales is more.

Recently Car Manufacturers are attracting the customers saying their product starts at 7.99 ex showroom price but actually for this price point they are selling basic (not base) variants. Ex, Basalt, Syros, may be this car as well, etc. So to get minimum features like touch screens, digital instrument clusters, auto AC, etc we might need to spend around 12.5 and if we need automatic (non AMT) we might spend another 1 or 2 lakhs. Is this like fake marketing. At last realising, taking a cab to travel is economical.

In chennai city I’m getting around 13 with Seltos diesel manual..15 is possible only if you’re not overtaking anyone and in light traffic. Highway you can expect around 18 to 19

Good review. Draw back is fuel consumption in petrol model. Are there petrol hybrids in Syros Or Any CNG models ? Are there CNG Hybrids (electric) in any brand of cars?

Now when I think of variants , I find one more problem. The sunroof , other than not suitable for Indian climate, prone to leakage and instability in roof area which many people used sunroof for sometime had already complained. If we analyse the variants sunroof starts from HTK (O) with small area and in HTK+ panaromic sunroof. Meaning other than the lowest variant HTK all the other variants will have sunroof compulsory. If a customer does not want sunroof but wants sliding seats or cruise control( available from HTK+) it is not possible. In Sonet they offered sunroof as option with (O) variant which is only optional .But here it is forced on the customer. This model will attract customers only for space management which is due to sliding and reclining rear seat. But along with that panaromic sun roof also will come which is more dangerous than small sunroof.

Road safety points given by you are really good. We can save so many lives by driving safely. There's one particular habit of Chennai drivers that's really dangerous - before a right turn they come to the right lane and take a blind turn with opposite traffic turning left to left and head on collision can occur. We were taught to imagine a drum kept at the intersection of roads where a police used to stand on a round elevated platform earlier and we have to keep to the left and go around it, thereby giving clear visibility of oncoming traffic are turning from their left to left. Can you educate by making a short animated clip about above time and other small clips good safety. Regards

Personally I prefer diesel in highway condition to avoid DPF issues. In city condition only NA engines are best. Since Syros doesn’t have a NA variant, for only city driving better not to go for Syros as Turbo petrols are only for performance not good for city only driving.

While many have praised the rear seat comfort, my personal experience was different. I found the comfort level to be less than expected, and the reclining position wasn't particularly comfortable. I suspect that the dimensions being touted for comparison with the Seltos might not fully translate to actual passenger comfort.
