I took my sister to Thika Level 5 after she was diagnosed with appendicitis and referred there. When we arrived, one medic told us, "This is not an emergency. Go home and wait until she starts screaming in pain." My sister was not screaming but she was crying in pain and couldn't even stand upright. We went to St. Mulumba and she was treated. The appendix was removed just in time to save her life. The doctor in charge said that if we had waited another day, it would probably have ruptured and killed her. Public healthcare in Kenya is just messed up.

Stori ya kiambu hosi siongeangi na nguvu,I'm a victim. Back 2009 I went there kupewa mtoi,imagine hakuna daktari alinisaidia,I did it all by my self. Waliniambia nisiwaite sio wao waliniweka mimba. Later walikuja kama nishapata mtoi nampanguza wakanipeleka ward na matusi chungu nzima.

Health care workers should be very professional and empathetic. You went to college so you can help others. You should do your job the best way possible. Remember you are caring for human beings, matters of life and death. No woman should be getting an infection from CS. The operation / surgery should be sterile. Care after should be very clean to the standard of sterility. I had my 3 children by CS in America never had any drainage, no pus, no nothing. The pus is a result of infection. Infection is caused by dirt... please save lives. Wash your hands, sterilize what needs to be sterilized... when patients get infected it can cost the their lives, can cost the hospital money to treat the infection, they stay longer in the hospital that bed could be occupied by another sick person....please do it right the first time. I am a trained nurse, we have been trained to be professional, kind, empathetic , treat patients with respect.

Everybody wants to be attended as fast as they get to hospital. Me, I and myself but what happens when you are 10 of you with only 2 staff? Triage dictates who will be attended first and waiting is inevitable. Shouting at already stressed workers only makes things worse. 2 other emergency cases were already in line before her. You attend first where you are saving life. When the baby is already dead, its no longer an emergency and its not life threatening until after 24hrs. After reading the scenario in this case, negligence is coming in waiting but who is to blame? Its goid to be sober when dealing with serious issues.
